L'horloge divine.

@chasinnova2 @mark_martini_ @bennyjohnson Not just for now. You do know how a constitutional amendment happens right? And this does infringe on states ability to carry out elections so it is still unconstitutional

@mark_martini_ @bennyjohnson It is unconstitutional. The states have authority over how elections are carried out and votes counted. Even the federal elections. Article 1 section 4.

@bennyjohnson I love it. I wonder how soon until some Marxist judge decrees that it’s unconstitutional?

Asian guy gets 5 years in prison and literally never touched George Floyd. Black guy gets a suspended sentence for murdering an Asian grandpa. Somali immigrant gets one year for defrauding $250 mil from the taxpayers. I thought the system was biased?

@Brado90180326 @CollinRugg Result, NG of 1st Deg M, NG of 2nd deg M (VM), G of IM, G of Assault, NG of Elder Abuse. Sentence 8 years. It was mandatory for the judge to suspend under CA's 2-for-1 law, since credit for time served, pretrial, is 10 years.

NEW: San Francisco judge Linda Colfax has released a man who fatally assaulted an 84-year-old because the prison sentence would have a "poor impact" on him. 25-year-old Antoine Watson was granted probation just two months after he was convicted of involuntary manslaughter and assault. Watson violently assaulted Vicha Ratanapakdee in 2021, which resulted in his death just two days later. He was acquitted of first-and second-degree murder charges and instead convicted of involuntary manslaughter. Colfax says Watson being in prison would have a "poor impact" on him and didn't think he should be there because he "expressed remorse," according to the SF Chronicle. Colfax is accused of hiding details from the jury in an apparent effort to help Watson escape prison time. Infuriating and evil.

@Brado90180326 @CollinRugg You are under a misapprehension that this is an outlier. This happens everywhere in every US criminal court. The prosecution wasn't confident they would get a conviction on VM, so they requested consideration of the lesser charge. Had they not, the guy would have truly walked.

@DMAlgaran @CollinRugg Of course the jury can convict a murder defendant on manslaughter...if given the option by the judge. The point is justice was not served, largely due to the judge offering IM instead of VM and cutting the sentence to time served. Maybe the punk will move next door to you?

@shining1977 @GraceSuare69008 @realpeteyb123 Not my judges. I am not an American, I just live here. But elected or not, the judge passed sentence well within the guidance imposed on her. Don't like sentence, take it up with the (also elected) prosecutor, who failed to make a strong case to the jury for murder.

USA is finished Radical judges rule over us. 19yo thug shoves 84yo grandpa from behind, cracks his skull on the pavement, kills him… then cries ‘bad day’ and walks free on probation. Not sure what we doing anymore.. No hope.

@SenseiiCurry @shining1977 @GraceSuare69008 @realpeteyb123 Having been on 2 juries I have not experienced anyone "not caring". When the balance of someone's life is in your and 11 other people's hands, people tend to care. Doesn't change the fact that THEY, not the judge, acquitted on murder and convicted on IM.

@Brado90180326 @CollinRugg The charge was murder. The JURY, in their decision, rejected that unanimously and agreed to convict on the lesser charge. There was no undo influence by the judge. Again, this shows how little people in the US understand their own criminal justice system

Involuntary manslaughter was an absurd charge and the jury simply follows this instructions of the judge. Involuntary manslaughter more appropriate if the punk killed someone in a street fight, not targeting a defenseless, innocent elderly man. There should have been enhancements for crimes against the elderly as well as a higher charge for the murder. Justice failed the family and citizens of SF by not holding the punk accountable. Plenty of blame to go around and partially explains why SF has diminished from the relatively safe city it once was.

@realpeteyb123 What are you talking about? A jury declared him guilty of felony assault and involuntary manslaughter and acquitted him of murder. 8 years was about the max he could have gotten. He served 5.

@shining1977 @GraceSuare69008 @realpeteyb123 The JURY determined the question on murder and they acquitted him of murder and found him guilty of assault and involuntary manslaughter. The judge's sentence was well within line with guidelines for IM. Do you not know how the justice system works in the US?

What do you think might happen if at the prime of your strength you shove someone old enough to have seen the dinosaurs? Of course that person is much more likely to die than others. Might also stop other idiots of shoving elderly people without damn good reason. But ok. Fine. Let's make it 15 years with possibility of parole after 10. If he passes some tests.
