Proud to speak at the Safety of Our Cities Conference which brings public safety stakeholders together from around Canada and United States. The goal of the conference is to seek innovative strategies to address public safety challenges faced by cities with a focus on upstream policing. Thanks to @ChiefNish for leading the charge on sharing best practices. There is no monopoly on a good idea. A new technology they works in Brampton can work in Vancouver or Edmonton. A new approach in Nashville or Seattle can work in our City. We can all learn from each other.

I was profoundly saddened to learn of the tragic events that unfolded in Charlotte, NC. The loss of 4 officers, and another 4 injured is an unimaginable blow to the U.S Marshals Task Force and the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department and the law enforcement community. 1/2

As with any major incident in a public place, we understand citizens are concerned. We are incredibly lucky that no lives were lost and we are grateful for all of the witnesses who have come forward. Added thanks to WEM security and first responders for their assistance.

The last three days have been incredibly taxing on our officers. Various resources and units have had to be deployed to address public safety concerns. I want to thank officers for continuing to show their resilience and dedication to serving and protecting the city.

The violence that’s unfolded in our city over the past 72 hours is completely unacceptable. Officers have been working tirelessly to uphold public safety, but this cannot continue.

Excellent work by our HSOC teams in getting these drugs off the streets.

Traffic Stop EPS members seized over $80,000 in fentanyl, methamphetamine, cocaine and a firearm during a June 21 traffic stop south of Whyte Ave. One male is facing multiple charges.
