In early 2015, I was creating digital art—with no one to collect it. (pictured below) Why? By then, digital fine art had already been deemed non-valuable, inconsequential at large. Who was buying internet art in 2015? No one. This was before the rise of AI, before generative art was widely recognized. Even the concept of ownership itself had fallen out of favor—replaced by the ethos of the sharing economy, where Uber and Airbnb redefined access over possession. Something had to change. For two years, I wrestled with the solution: How do I succeed in bringing a new experience to digital art—one that could reshape the world I found myself in? The answer was the very thing the world was discarding: Ownership A Verdandi work of art isn’t just a digital image—it’s something to experience. Ownership is not an afterthought; it is woven into the fabric of the art itself—encoded as an NFT, streamed through the network, living within the medium. Even as an artist, when I sell an NFT, I feel the weight of that moment. It is not just a transaction—it is an exchange of presence. And so, artist and collector alike dance together in this brave new digital world. Some will overlook what I’ve accomplished—drawn instead to the narratives of others. But the blockchain will always remember: I created the first collection of 1/1 NFTs for visual fine art—not simply to sell an image, but to offer something far greater: The experience of art itself.
