#473 The Office for Digital Identities and Attributes (OfDIA) is trolling @gdsteam and Natalie Jones OBE (assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/media/685c05bb…) and her incompetent (accountingweb.co.uk/comment/reply/…) made-in-Romania (computerweekly.com/news/366622533…) GOV.UK One Login cyber-security-disaster-in-waiting (computerweekly.com/news/366623991…) identity verification service. "Digital identity only works if people trust it", they say in a blog post today, 'Why international standards matter for digital identity in the UK' (enablingdigitalidentity.blog.gov.uk/2026/04/01/why…). GOV.UK One Login doesn't even comply with the civil service's own cyber security standards let alone international standards. What OfDIA are telling @darrenpjones is that he and Companies House and HMRC and DWP are wrong to rely on GOV.UK One Login.

The project that keeps on starting ----- Heart-warming. That's the only word to describe it. If you were born yesterday. 24 March 2026, and @leicesterliz and @SciTechgovuk announce: "More than one million helped get connected and get online thanks to government digital inclusion action plan" (gov.uk/government/new…): QUOTE First ever government Digital Inclusion Action Plan has already helped more than 1 million people get connected in its first year UNQUOTE Well done. Except for that word "already". It seems like only 12½ years ago that DMossEsq wrote 'GDS & assisted digital – the project that keeps on starting' (dmossesq.com/2013/10/gds-as…), which includes: QUOTE GDS's assisted digital project, which started on 28 July 2011 and 30 May 2012 and 23 May 2013 and 20 June 2013 and 31 July 2015, will next start some time after 18 January 2016 – that's the date when tenders must be submitted to join "a framework agreement for suppliers to provide training and digital support services to help reduce digital exclusion". UNQUOTE The goldfish in Whitehall have such short memories. We can look forward to 2027 when the next "first ever government Digital Inclusion Action Plan" is launched.

#471c What is left after that of Andy King, Chief Executive and Registrar of Companies for England and Wales, becoming the trusted guardian of corporate transparency? Nothing. The abysmal error in the @CompaniesHouse website isn't his fault, of course. But what the error does make clear is that Mr King's assurances of trusted guardianship are worthless. He can't deliver. It's not in his gift. His words are empty. Take another look at his vainglorious blog post, companieshouse.blog.gov.uk/2026/01/22/bec…, and the unanswered questions below the line.

#471f It is irresponsible and unbusinesslike of @CompaniesHouse and @HMRCgovuk and @DWPgovuk and @educationgovuk and others to pretend that they can assure the public that their systems are secure. It is also irresponsible of the @ICAEW and @sra_solicitors and other professional bodies to stand by without comment and watch their members and the public get lured into using these systems. They become thereby party to the deception. Don't forget dmossesq.com/2018/05/unders….

#471e And it's not just Mr King at @CompaniesHouse and Natalie Jones OBE at @GDSTeam, is it? When the buffoonish @darrenpjones says "it must be secure: You will have more control over what data you share and we expect nothing less than banking levels of security" in 'Making public services work for you with your digital identity', gov.uk/government/con… you know that he doesn't know that and can't know it and can't promise it.

#471b The newspaper articles above all go back to a discovery reported by the excellent Dan Neidle, linkedin.com/posts/danneidl… QUOTE I see some weird things but this takes the biscuit. A vulnerability in the Companies House website, that let anyone view the private dashboard of any one of the five million registered companies, and see directors' personal details. And - I think - even change directors' details and file accounts. I demonstrate it in the video below … UNQUOTE
