Category 5 hurricane Maria struck Dominica one year ago tonight. But we survived. Diamond also survived. I found her amidst her clutch of coconuts on the morning of the 19th.

The Scott's Head community was ravaged by hurricane Maria last year. Fisher folk here are slowly putting their lives back together. But the challenges of ice and fuel remain.

It was a pleasure hosting @johnkpinnegar and @EngelhardGeorg from @CefasGovUK for the past few days. Together we're gaining new insights from the Dominican fisheries sector and better ways to manage it sustainably.

Our final day of the @CME_Prog visit to Dominica, working with @DOMFisheries on hurricane impacts and fisheries data collection. A workshop with stakeholders and enumerators to show our results, including interviews with 2 TV and 2 radio channels! @CefasGovUK @ccsUsEA @CefasMC3

Today @EngelhardGeorg and myself have been travelling round the south of Dominica visiting some of the fishing communities so badly affected by Hurricane Maria last september. Many buildings destroyed, boats washed away and livlihoods devestated. @CME_Prog @CefasGovUK @ccsUsEA
