Iran complied with JCPOA fully. The IAEA confirmed it. The US withdrew anyway. Then bombed Iran. US intel said Iran had no nuclear weapon. They bombed Iran anyway. Talks were ongoing in Feb 2026. US launched full strikes on Feb 28. And now Trump sends Vance as “proof he’s serious.” Iran’s suspicion isn’t paranoia. It’s called reading history.

I think that's not the right take. Vance and his various pals have, like Trump, and odd preference for Russia over Ukraine. Vance won't be pro-Iran the way he's pro-Russia but he's anti-war enough that I could easily imagine him being easier to negotiate with than the other guys. Plus Vance has, at this point, less experience than Witkoff and much less than Kushner. I think Vance's name is showing up because Trump wants Vance to get some political points if the war ends up with a good outcome, so that Marco doesn't get all the kudos.
