Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has. I block Maga. Vote Blue 🦅

Rules for thee, but not for me. Trump didn't learn this in the Oval Office, he brought it with him from decades of well-documented self-dealing and moral decay, all documented. Learn all about Trump’s corruption, starting with his early life here: youtube.com/watch?v=1JwUYQ…

Nearly a year ago, I pointed out that this was a problem. Now, during Holy Week, Bishop Barron flew to DC to applaud a speech in which Donald Trump was compared to the crucified and resurrected Jesus Christ. I think we've gone well past the point of plausible deniability.
Mike Lewis@mfjlewis

Over the past couple of months, US Catholics have witnessed an extremely prominent and popular bishop publicly sell out his reputation to become a political puppet. This has unfolded in real time. Many are defending it. I can't find words, except to say it is deeply evil.

@ChristopherHale @BishopBarron justifying his unjust words. He’s a full on maga disgrace, enabling a convicted felon, rapist, pedophile narcissist. Clapping when likening Trump to Jesus is blasphemy. Barron has no spine and no credibility. He’d do well to listen to the Pope.

NEW: Bishop Barron went on Ben Shapiro's show during Holy Week and told millions of listeners that Pope Leo’s Palm Sunday anti-war message was about unjust war in the abstract — not the Iran bombing campaign the pope has spent weeks condemning. Shapiro was one of three stops. Barron also appeared on the Will Cain Show and the Hugh Hewitt Show — a whirlwind tour of exclusively right-wing media the day before the Triduum began in his diocese. The pope quoted Isaiah to those whose hands are full of blood. Barron’s response, delivered across a right-wing program to millions of conservative listeners, was to assure them that Leo probably meant something else. substack.com/home/post/p-19…

Jenine Pirro was a great prosecutor before she became a colorful TV sage. She would be a powerful Attorney General. Todd Blanche could also do the job and probably have an easier route to confirmation.

@BishopBarron Hypocrite! Supporting that narcissistic criminal pedophile who actually thinks he’s Jesus (vs your perverted “pastor” friend telling him he is) is unconscionable. Trump is Satan on earth & that is what you support. You need to be defrocked.

Friends, yesterday, I had the opportunity to offer a prayer at an Easter lunch hosted by the White House. What follows is the text of that invocaton: Heavenly Father, almighty and eternal God, provident Lord of history, we come before you today in an attitude of humble gratitude. We are thankful, Lord, for this opportunity to be together in fellowship, for the faith that unites us, and for the blessings of liberty that we enjoy as Americans. But we are grateful, above all, on this holiest week of the year, for the gift of your Son Jesus Christ, who is God from God, light from light, true God from true God; who is the Yes to all the promises made to Israel; who is the Lamb standing as though slain; who is the Alpha and the Omega; who is the Lion of Judah; who is the desire of the everlasting hills; and who is the Word made flesh. Father, you so loved the world that you sent your only Son that all who believe in him might not perish but might have eternal life. On Good Friday, you sent him indeed to the very limits of godforsakenness that he might gather back to you even those who had wandered furthest away. On the cross, he took upon himself the sins of the world—injustice, cruelty, hatred, violence, betrayal, and denial—that he might swallow them up in the ever-greater divine mercy. On Easter Sunday, Father, you raised him from death, showing your victory over all of the powers of darkness. Having met the risen Jesus, St. Paul could therefore say, “I am certain that neither death nor life, neither angels nor principalities, neither height nor depth, nor any other creature could separate us from the love of God.” We bless you, Father, for you have given us the privilege of declaring the kingship of Christ to the world and calling all people to be subject to him. And so, Lord, conform us to Christ your Son. Clothe us, we pray, with his compassion, his meekness, his love for the poor. Father, we ask you to bless our country. Make us prosperous and safe, but above all, make us morally upright and order our freedom toward your truth. Bless our troops, especially those who are most directly in harm’s way. Protect them and make them righteous warriors. And finally, Father, bless our President. Give him the grace, the courage, the wisdom, and the prudence he needs to perform his duties according to your will. We say, with gratitude, that we are a nation under God. We acknowledge that in you we live and move and have our being. We know that our freedom and rights come from you. Continue, Lord, to shed your grace on us and to hold us in the palm of your hand. We pray through Christ our Lord. Amen.

White House proposes a $1.5 trillion defense budget for 2027, offset by $73 billion in cuts to domestic programs including climate, housing, and education, while boosting border and law enforcement funding.

Twenty-six generals and admirals in fourteen months. No misconduct cited for a single one. A former Fox News weekend host who never held a senior military command has removed the Joint Chiefs Chairman, the Army Chief of Staff, the commander of Army Transformation and Training, the Chief of Chaplains, and at least 22 other senior officers from the most powerful military on earth. He blocked four Army officers from promotion to brigadier general, two Black men and two women, by unilaterally striking their names from a list of 36. When Army Secretary Dan Driscoll refused to remove them, Hegseth did it himself. No hearing. No review board. No Senate consultation. The names were struck because the man who reads the list decided they should not be on it. The pattern is not random. It is architectural. Every removal serves the same function: shortening the distance between a presidential decision and its execution. The officers who remain are the ones who did not resist. The officers who resisted are gone. The replacement for the Army Chief of Staff is Vice Chief General Christopher LaNeve, who served as Hegseth’s personal military aide. The man who carried the briefcase now signs the orders. The chain of command has been rebuilt so that every link answers directly to the man who removed the previous link. General Randy George was the commander of the United States Army’s ground forces. That title matters now in a way it did not matter six weeks ago. Before February 28, ground forces in Iran were a theoretical exercise discussed in war colleges and think tanks. After five weeks of air strikes, with the IRGC publishing bridge target lists across four allied nations, with the President saying the military has “not even started” destroying what remains, with MEUs staged in the Gulf and the 82nd Airborne deploying and JSOC operators at forward bases in four countries, the ground option is no longer theoretical. It is a logistics package. And the man whose job was to assess whether that package should be opened was told to retire the same day the President posted “much more to follow.” Lieutenant General Hodne ran the command that trains every soldier who would execute a ground operation. Major General Green led the chaplain corps that would minister to every soldier who dies in one. George decided whether the operation should happen. Hodne prepared the soldiers to carry it out. Green prepared them to live with it. All three were removed on the same afternoon. Congress has not held a hearing. No subpoenas issued. The legal authority for a Defence Secretary to unilaterally override promotion lists and force immediate retirement of Senate-confirmed officers during wartime has not been tested because nobody with the authority to question it has chosen to. The IRGC has said attacks will “intensify from next week.” The Ford carrier is heading back. The CNN intelligence assessment confirms half of Iran’s launchers and thousands of drones remain. The President has named the next targets: power plants, desalination, oil wells, Kharg Island. And every general who might have said “this crosses a line” is already gone. Twenty-six officers. Zero misconduct findings. One question that every general still serving is asking behind closed doors: who is left to say no? And what happens when the answer is nobody? open.substack.com/pub/shanakaans…
