With the #Bakrid festival coming up, held a video conference with all CPs and SPs, along with senior officials from MA&UD, Animal Husbandry and other departments.
Exhorted all officers to maintain close coordination with inter-departmental teams, hold meetings with community representatives and other groups to prevent misunderstandings, ensure strict adherence to SOPs, and take concerted action against illegal cattle transportation. Officers were also directed to closely monitor the 52 inter-state check posts along the borders and 203 check posts across the State.
Several operational issues, including cattle shelters, monitoring of provocative content on social media, and other preventive measures, were reviewed and tied up. The run-up to the festival is always sensitive, and the #police machinery has to remain extra vigilant to maintain peace, public order and communal harmony.

Ahead of the forthcoming Bakrid festival, I, along with Sri Jayesh Ranjan, Special Chief Secretary, MA&UD; Sri K. Ilambarthi, Secretary, Animal Husbandry Department; senior Revenue officials, and other senior officers, conducted a video conference with officials from the Police, MA&UD, Revenue, and Animal Husbandry Departments, including all Commissioners of Police, Superintendents of Police, and field-level officers, to review preparedness and coordination across Telangana.
In line with the directions issued during the review meetings held under the leadership of the Hon’ble Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister, all field officers have been instructed to maintain strict vigilance against illegal transportation and trafficking of cattle during the festival period.
Bakrid is a sensitive occasion from a law & order perspective, and the Telangana Police is committed to maintaining peace, communal harmony, and public safety throughout the State. Officers have been directed to strictly enforce the provisions of the Cow Slaughter Act, Transport of Animals Rules, and Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act. Stringent legal action will be taken against anyone violating these laws.
To curb illegal cattle smuggling, 52 inter-state check posts along the borders of neighbouring States and 203 check posts across Telangana are actively monitoring suspicious movement. Instructions have also been issued for intensified vehicle checking, strict verification of transport-related certificates, and special surveillance on cattle fairs over the coming days.
At the same time, it has been clearly instructed that no individual or organisation should take the law into their own hands. Any attempts to disturb peace, create confrontation, spread misinformation, or incite tensions either physically or through social media will be dealt with firmly as per law.
All Commissioners and SPs have also been advised to hold coordination meetings with community representatives to promote awareness, prevent misunderstandings, and ensure harmonious celebrations across all districts.
The #TelanganaPolice remains fully committed to safeguarding public order and ensuring that Bakrid is observed peacefully, respectfully, and in the true spirit of communal harmony.
