We continue to encourage anyone who witnesses or experiences such incidents to report them to police. Reporting hate-motivated incidents is an important step in stopping cycles of hatred.

Today, we raised the Trans Flag at OPS Headquarters to recognize International Transgender Day of Remembrance.
On this day, we honour and remember those who have lost their lives or suffered harm due to transphobic prejudice, violence, discrimination, and stigma. Hate has no place in our city.
~

The Ottawa Police Service has taken proactive measures to ensure the safety of all residents in response to a number of recent significant events in the Middle East.
We recognize that next week, October 7th, marks the beginning of hostilities. We are closely monitoring the situation and assessing any potential impacts on our local community. This includes increasing our presence and patrols around Jewish and Islamic places of worship, as well as community centers.
Our priority is the safety and security of all community members, and we remain committed to fostering a peaceful and supportive environment during this time. #Ottawa #OttNews
