I haven't posted for a while but this is worthy of a post, tonight saw the retirement of a fine on call officer. 46 years of providing on call cover at Colyton Fire station, amazing commitment from both him and his family, Sir I salute you 🫡

Local fire crews are attending an exercise at Rennes House flats in Exeter, it might look realistic but please be assured it is just an important training event!

At 5pm yesterday we were called to an incident on Exmouth beach, where a man had become trapped in the sand with an incoming tide. Fire crews worked alongside @HMCoastguard , @RNLI Lifeguards, @swasFT , and members of the public to successfully rescue the person.

Excellent work by attending crews limited the impact of this incident yesterday, but this highlights the environmental impacts of #Wildfires. For further advice on preventing them, take a look here: dsfire.gov.uk/safety/outdoor…

We are sad to report a fire at Dunsford nature reserve yesterday. Thanks to @DSFireUpdates who were at the scene quickly and the public who reported the smoke. This reserve is home to rare species, including pearl-bordered fritillary butterflies. buff.ly/427kFFe (1/2)

Congratulations to Devon and Somerset Watch Manager Ed Durante and Cornwall firefighter Craig Jones who have received the Queen's Commendation for Bravery for rescuing the occupants of a vehicle that crashed and caught fire on the A38 in June 2021. orlo.uk/0x67F

On-call firefighters have a drill night once a week to catch up on important information and practice their skills. If you’re interested in becoming an on-call firefighter, visiting the station on a drill night with prior notice can be a good first step dsfire.gov.uk/about-us/fire-…
