Restaurant owners love tip credit because it save them money on labor costs. They justify it because servers in some areas make $20-30+/hr with tips on average. Cooks resent foh because of the pay discrepancy (they often make $10-14/hr).

You know what’s better than advocating for keep the dumb unfair current system? Eliminate the tipped minimum wage and allow tips to be shared by all staff members. Yes payroll costs go up, but the point is that they go up for EVERYBODY.
