We do put children and adolescents on statins in high-risk cases (familial hypercholesterolemia) for precisely this reason. Outside of FH, there are more tradeoffs that give clinicians pause (concerns about suppressing cholesterol aggressively during the development phase, minimal risk of near-term events, the initial accumulations of plaque in childhood being different in composition than advanced plaques you start developing in the subsequent decades). I have no idea what incoherent nonsense "check longterm history of heart disease" refers to, but you don't strike me as the kind of person who is capable of adding anything intelligent to this discussion, so I don't care to know or argue this with you. You have a great day.

You can just check your LDL-C, if it's over 60mg/dL, you are building plaque. You can get it under 60 pretty easily and never worry about plaque. You don't need to wait until you have calcium in your arteries. Calcium is a late stage finding. Would you tell a smoker to keep smoking until a CT scan shows lung cancer? That's decades too late. You tell them to stop immediately. We can now prevent heart disease. We don't need to wait until it's irreversible! 💪🏻🫀🩺
Brad Gerstner@altcap

We started the Center for Heart Attack Prevention to advocate for widespread CAC scans as a standard of care for everyone over 35 - the mammogram for the heart. Grt to see new guidelines moving in that direction. Universal scans will save 100k lives per year! Get your now! 🇺🇸🤍

@AggregateReads @MohammedAlo @auntiecoco74 This is an incredibly dense take. The LDL level he suggests statin usage start would have otherwise very healthy kids on them. Also, check long term history of heart disease.

This is a rather dense take on the topic. Our bodies weren't designed for longevity, but to survive to the age of reproduction and reproduce. You can move forward in life with the body "as it exists" / "as it was designed," but cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death presently. There are many ways to die, but modern medicine/pharmacology offers solutions to the issue of cardiovascular disease, and greatly reduces the risk of CVD as a primary causal factor of mortality. Our bodies weren't designed to be naturally resistant to polio—should we reject the polio vaccine on those grounds?

@MohammedAlo @auntiecoco74 So what you’re saying is God (or whatever anyone believes) designed human bodies to do all these amazing things automatically (anyone that’s had a baby has experienced several of these), but we basically all need a statin regardless of how we eat b/c ldl function was messed up.

@auntiecoco74 Yes, most would need medications to get under 60. You should eat right regardless. No one recommends eating poorly and taking meds.

@Tjwine11 @clara_winslow @RepThomasMassie @dbongino I don't disagree with those things, the war is concerning, Epstein was botched. But then you look at senate stopping recess appointments and not passing Save act. It's an uphill battle as the establishment has strength, even if they lost the people. He's done a lot of good.

@DSyp2020 @clara_winslow @RepThomasMassie @dbongino I agree that on certain things (the border) Trump has delivered. Which is awesome. But he has failed on one of his most important promises, which is not to let Americans die in needless foreign war.

I’m frequently disappointed in politicians but Tom Massie defied the odds in my unfortunate experiences with him, as he surpassed my lowest expectations. This zero pretends to be a principled defender of liberty but, in the real world, he supports third-world tyranny. Here are the receipts from a phone call I had with this zero offering him a briefing on multiple investigations he was inserting himself into by publicly commenting on them. Rather than affording the subjects of the cases their constitutional Right to due process, Massie chose to waive off the briefing and litigate it on X for clicks. Notice I tried to call him back but he wasn’t interested in facts. It’s also of note that I never heard a single word from Massie during the process we engaged in to release the Epstein case docs. This process played out in media everywhere and yet Massie never reached out. Not once. It’s almost as if he wants to be a moron. As if ignorance is bliss for him. I’m horrified I once believed this guy was authentic.

@Tjwine11 @clara_winslow @RepThomasMassie @dbongino Massie has done his share of things that make America 1st people question him, whether it’s authenticity, immigration policy, etc. Even his victories like Epstein make you wonder why he waited 4 years to fight. Trump has his faults but has delivered on way more than he’s missed.

@DSyp2020 @clara_winslow @RepThomasMassie @dbongino I am a three-time Trump voter. Do not be mistaken that he is a conservative. He doesn’t hide the fact that he is not. Massie is one of the loan actual conservatives in Washington. And the things that he brings up, Trump has been horrible on. Epstein being one of them.

@clara_winslow @RepThomasMassie @dbongino It's a fair point. Massie says a lot I like but he spends too much time attacking/stopping the most popular conservative president in my life for me to understand his true motives.

I went to a steakhouse in Miami, paid the bill, and they automatically added a 20% tip. When the waiter brought the check, he said: “That tip goes to the whole establishment—if you want to leave something for me, it’s extra.” I didn’t add anything else—20% is already too much. He gave me a dirty look, like I was robbing him. This tipping culture is out of control.

@historyrock_ I'm a GnR fan, but he's got multiple outfits in this NY city "live" performance. This is a video so I imagine they reworked the performance. GnR probably best band from that era but Axl limited them live. Other bands from that era were better live by far.

@travelingflying Funny watching them dance between complaining and applauding. It's a culture that was unique to England that was artificially changed to sell more products from global corporations. Nobody wants every unique culture changed into some generic world culture.

Drinking more water is not always the answer. If you are tired, dizzy, cramping, getting headaches, or waking up at 3 AM, you may not be under-hydrated. You may be under-mineralized. Water without electrolytes can dilute what your cells actually need to function. Try this: - start your day with water plus sodium, potassium, and magnesium - stop chugging plain water all day - hydrate harder around workouts, sauna, and travel Hydration is not just about volume. It is about absorption. Your cells do not run on water alone.

Here’s where we stand. The Good: President Trump is paying TSA agents, and the current bill the Senate just sent over to the House re-opens DHS. ICE and Border Patrol will continue arrests and deportations, being primarily funded through the OBBB. Democrats did not succeed in sabotaging border and immigration enforcement in any substantive way. The Bad: the Senate goes on a two week recess without passing the SAVE America Act, stand-alone voter ID, or funding all of DHS through the normal process. Democrats threw a wrench into our efforts to deliver on issues which enjoy broad support among the American people. The Ugly: Congress, especially the Senate, cannot skate by relying on President Trump to solve all our problems. Republicans have to justify their majorities by fighting for permanent policy victories, not can-kicking with unrealistic reconciliation promises. If we do not stand and fight today, we will not inspire Americans in November.
