Inexplicable phenomenon that I think led to my being laid off recently: made it clear to new chief engineer that I aspired to a high level of involvement in building the new technology he envisioned for the company. This was received badly and repudiated several times. Baffling.

I’ve actually asked my parents like how are you guys happy with what you have and kids multiple times. I genuinely don’t get it. They say we were the best things that ever happened to them, and I’m 26. I explain that I don’t understand how they aren’t genuinely bitter coming home to more responsibilities after their shift for the day. Because I am every day. I don’t have a gf and don’t want one because it’d be more work after spending all day doing what I don’t wanna do already. If I had a kid, I think my ‘life’ would genuinely be over. Good thing it won’t happen, I guess.

Is the true reason time seems to have ‘stopped’ over the past number of years especially really just because there is NO innovation anymore?
