@SAERI_FI, @SMSG and @GovSGSSI are now using this knowledge on priority locations and vessel types to start monitoring and assessment work to help manage and safeguard the unique biodiversity from marine invasive species.

We used a combination of #networkanalysis and movement analysis of vessel behaviour and characteristics to assess ‘invasion pathways’ from hull biofouling, and identify threats across three South Atlantic ecoregions.

South Georgia currently has only one documented established non-native species (found last year by @NHM_London)! But the combination of rapidly changing climate conditions ☀️⛈️ and an increase in tourism⛴️activities are now making these previously isolated islands at risk!
