It wasn't random - someone reported it, and the report got looked at. It might feel random to you, but it wasn't. Insofar as the severity of the sanction, I can't comment. That's a function of our Trust and Safety team. I'm sorry you disagree, but when rules get violated, something happens.

Thank you for the reply! I'm sorry I've poked you specifically, but feels nice to get an actual answer.❤️ Just to clarify, I don't care about the group. vrc has every right to remove any unwanted content. What made me disappointed was how randomly it came and punished me with temporarily not being able to see my friends on the platform. I consider a ban from vrc straight out cruel that should be only used against actual offenders. Why erasing the content and sending a warning would not be enough?

Hey @dtupper, Could you please explain what kind of sexual activity did you find in a 2 years old inactive tag group and why did I deserve a 3 days long ban from VRChat for it? You could've just remove it. I've submitted an appeal.

This is wayyy too fun. I've been trying to achieve this effect for years My Setup: 1. OBS 2. Making 70% of my room into green screen (Thank you SomaticVR) 3. Align my real life Camera with #VRChat Camera and mask out the avatar 4. VR and FBT (8 Orion Trackers from SomaticVR)

@Misha_bisha_ @SHELTERVRCLUB 5090 and a 9800x3d here, I had 10-15 fps more than usual! I didn't have the same experience you did. Which is unfortunate!! It was glorious to have that many frames with a hundred people in fully shown custom avatars in front of me.

@dtupper @SHELTERVRCLUB Your game is terribly cpu bottlenecked and these changes seem to only focus on vram, which is already way better with imposters system in general, im sitting on same fps with 5090 in any lobby with 80+ people

The main instance of @SHELTERVRCLUB is running Avatar Performance Gating (at Poor) tonight. The result? 100 people in the instance, all shown, and this is the highest framerate I've had at this event in years. I've overheard dozens say the same. hopefully live next week!

@FleurdelysVR @CrandyVR @SHELTERVRCLUB 46% of video cards registered in the Steam Hardware Survey have 10GB or more of VRAM, and that percentage keeps rising in each survey! By mid-2026, 10GB will be the most common VRAM capacity on participants' computers. Of course, chip costs are still sky-high... for now.

That's okay, the data proves it! A quick glance shows that the average FPS at the event increased by roughly 10% versus previous events. That might sound like much (and it's noisy data, ex: the overflows are included in the data set & didn't have the feature on), but for that metric, that's huge.

This was done via a method where the scammer invites you to a Minecraft server over Discord, and sends you a (malicious) package to install via Curseforge. They will go as far to dig through your friends list to tell you people that are playing too, to draw you in. Be careful!
Rollthered@RolltheredDev

🚨Important PSA / Warning, VRChat. The shader developer Poiyomi has been hacked. Their Discord server has been locked, channels closed currently at the time of writing this. Do NOT download any packages or use the Creator companion listings until further notice!

@ryuhga Yes, it was an open secret. Everyone knew about it. I think your original statement is very true. Even if you set rules, people will poke at it. Many will just bypass it if there is no technical limitation, and if enforcement never comes, they will assume the rule is pointless.

lil@lil_xyzw

@CastellVR > So hardware would eventually catch up From what I understand: The data shows that hardware hasn't been catching up, unfortunately, even if you artificially hold the progression towards poor performing avatars in place. The reasoning is complicated and beyond 280 characters.

Man, we really need a hard-cap for avatars. Something like max 600k polys and 50 materials. So hardware would eventually catch up where we can have frames while in full lobbies. Otherwise we will just keep pushing the limits as we have over the years.

@lil_xyzw 70,000 was chosen based on the median occupant value, which was around 10-20 at the time of evaluation. Using the 80 player example is a convenient way to show "this is how bad it could possibly get" but was not how the system was formed.

The more I think about it, the more I observe, and the more I participate, the more I convinced that this platform is an absolutely terrible place for actual, productive discussion with the goal of mutual understanding. There's no such thing as a discussion here, or someone spending time to understand the point of view of somebody else -- just hot takes, bad dunks, disinformation-as-fact, and anger. Even simply listening on this platform requires a collection of caveats that essentially invalidates your conclusions. You have to filter out so much because of what the algorithm encourages users to do that you end up losing most of your data alongside the trash. Twitter has become one of the least reliable data sources for social listening that we have on hand. Strangely, I feel a little guilty blaming just the platform. The reasoning for this isn't some kind of attachment or emotion, it's just that when I observe communities that are separated by a language barrier -- like the Japanese VRChat community here on Twitter -- the same issues simply are not present. It only seems to occur in the English-speaking sphere. Maybe that's the product of the algorithm? I'm not sure. I just know it didn't used to be this way, and now it is, and even if I want to try my hardest, this place just isn't healthy for your mind.
