Ooh, excellent news!!😊 The best way would be to make up 2 houses as below and take them straight to the rescue and ask them if they can put the hogs in them as soon as possible. Then on the morning of release you can collect them already in their 'house' and put the houses straight into the garden in a nice sheltered dry spot. It doesn't matter where, as long as the spot doesn't get direct sunlight. These houses will last all year, and longer, if made well.

@HedgehogCabin Hello .. it’s me again.. both boys are coming home.. is there anything I need to do/ how do I release them? They aren’t the hedgehogs living in my garden. As far as I’m aware, one of the 2 riverside houses in my garden are still occupied. Any guidance is appreciated Thanks ☺️

Excellent!💖 Oh just the opposite! Because you provide good safe food your healthy hogs leave a scent trail that says, "I'm well fed and healthy!", and sick hogs coming across this trail will follow it - and find you!🥰 So getting more than your fair share of sick hedgehogs turning up is a sign you're doing all the right things.💕xx

@HedgehogCabin Thanks Pauly, the 2nd boy is also now getting treated. As long as my feeding stations/mingling is not causing anything. (Dishes are washed every night and clean fresh water/food put out) Thanks again xx

@HedgehogCabin I’ve got another one I’ve heard this morning with laboured breathing. Ran away before I could get downstairs to him. Will try again this evening. Two in as many weeks .. is that normal? As an aside, is it normal for rescues to microchip hedgehogs?

There are reasons for this that we can’t discuss publicly right now, but protecting the animals in our care is our absolute priority. The full system will cost £4,000. We know that sounds like a lot, but the company helping us has been incredibly generous and is going above and beyond providing additional cameras, warning signs, and even a TV screen system so we can properly monitor the sanctuary.
