For the past 2 years I've done an #OctoberHorror marathon – spooky films every day up to #Halloween. Sadly my partner died recently and I'll be undergoing chemotherapy for my own cancer through the month ... but still planning to pack in a few choice horror flicks along the way.
English

@LeeAndersonMP_ My partner was on PIP for the last four months of her life after being diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer. The great unwashed? Burn in hell, you worthless cunt.
English

The Great Unwashed.
I'd wager half of them at least are on PIP.

You don’t have to be on the side of Nigel Farage to be against these aggressive, far-left, militant thugs

@TakeThatClouds I know the original post is just bait, but I took this a few years ago with a handheld, non-pro DSLR and a second-hand zoom lens.

Trevor thinks that astrophotography is “fake” because he apparently hasn’t discovered the concept of “exposing photos vaguely correctly” 🤪

@TakeThatClouds Derp 😂

@esjesjesj This will only make sense to folk of certain age and nationalities ... but real ones do acknowledge that Monkey WAS born from an egg on a mountain top.

Atheists literally believe this.

@jai_une_ame @53A7713173 @modredcastleton To be fair it's there in the movie:
"You, uniquely, were the one we needed."
"A man who would come here of his own free will."
"A man who has come here with the power of a king by representing the law."
"A man who would come here as a virgin."
"A man who has come here as a fool."
English

@53A7713173 @modredcastleton Ai summary as proof lmao yeah okay buddy

The original Wicker Man is quite a brilliant film which is sadly overshadowed by the silly Cage remake. The scene for instance where Willow drums on the walls of the protags bedroom & sings to him BTW if he just shagged her it would have prevented the village sacrificing him 💦😬
DepressedBergman@DannyDrinksWine
On this day, 52 years ago, Robin Hardy's "The Wicker Man" (1973) was released in the United Kingdom.

@BenjiNaesen Although I will take issue with "you can’t just leave out a vital word in the sentence..." Of course you can, it's a fundemental part of how we use language every day. See en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ellipsis_…

English

@BenjiNaesen I was about to wade in with a full-throated defence of the British usage, but came across this interesting note in my (admittedly slightly dated) copy of New Hart's Rules:

English

@ScarredForLife2 His head from the back always reminded me of an Easter egg.
English

@Matt_Pinner 35/50, not including the multiple points for Star Wars and LOTR sequels.
English

@Harris94Vinnie I'm currently working my way through this set: amazon.co.uk/dp/B074T8XN1Q. If you're not bothered about 4K it's still good quality and packed with commentaries and extras. Currently £64 on Amazon, but I got it on sale last year for just £35, so you might be able to find a good deal.

@RealPaulPutner Is 007 stage a red herring? Looks like it might be a scene from one of the Tomb Raider movies.
English

@TheGhostHost I've lived in and near other places with interesting tales of legends, cryptids and hauntings, including the Gorbals Vampire (folklorescotland.com/the-gorbals-va…), the Lambton Worm (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lambton_W…) and the Cauld Lad of Hylton (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cauld_Lad…).
English

@TheGhostHost Port Glasgow in the west of Scotland has various stories about this, the Boglestone ... "by worldly priest abhorred". One version said that if you failed to show respect when passing the stone you would be chased and haunted by the bogle (a spirit or imp) that lived there.

#OctoberHorror 31 – IT CHAPTER TWO (2019). "You know what they say about Derry. No one who dies here ever really dies." I get the criticisms, but for me this is a perfectly enjoyable sequel ... and a decent way to round off my Halloween month watchings.

English

#OctoberHorror 30 – IT CHAPTER ONE (2017). "You punched me, made me walk through shitty water, dragged me through a crackhouse ... and now I'm gonna have to kill this fucking clown." A rewatch of both movies seemed appropriate as a run-in to IT: WELCOME TO DERRY.

@TheCinesthetic The first time I watched this I said to myself, "This has the worst dialogue of any film I've ever seen, ever." That hasn't stopped me rewatching it over and over again at every given opportunity.
English

Van Helsing (2004) may have a 24% on Rotten Tomatoes, but who cares? It’s got vampires, werewolves, Frankenstein’s monster, and Hugh Jackman going full gothic hero. Impossible not to enjoy.
cinesthetic.@TheCinesthetic
What’s your under 20% on Rotten Tomatoes “hear me out?”
