Police time will no longer be wasted investigating legal social media posts, freeing up officers to patrol the streets and tackle real crime. By scrapping Non‑Crime Hate Incidents, we are balancing the protection of vulnerable communities while respecting free speech.

Operational details aren't published. Deployment locations are announced by the MOD themselves half the time. It's not an issue when we aren't in a direct conflict. Even if we were, satellites are taking images of the entire planet daily. You might be able to hide some things, not warships though.

You can't exactly hide thousands of tonnes of warship. No country on the planet can. It's clear and easy to know which ships are where and roughly what they're doing. Naval bases are at sea level and in ports. All land around them is elevated, naturally, so you can see what ships are docked, in maintenance etc.

Total fucking incompetence. And no, it's not secret, he just doesn't have a clue what he's doing. We have 7 Frigates and 6 Destroyers (most in maintenance). We have two aircraft carriers with enough jets for only one of them. We have a couple of supply and support vessels and some subs, most of which are in maintenance. And this is just the Navy, the Army and RAF are in equally poor states. Both Labour, now and prior to the tories (Labour cancelled 6 destroyers from the original order among other things) and the tories prior to the current government are responsible for hollowing out not just defence, but the entire country.

Can we even trust these people? I wanna hear from those actually operating it. The actual crewmen, not the commanders etc. If its safe operating window is as narrow as it seems, it's not fit for purpose as a warfighting vehicle. It'll never see the fight and will struggle to meet training deployments if it's so maintenance intensive. A good vehicle will continue to operate and keep the crew safe even if it's not 100%. A gust of wind and it seems Ajax needs to go in for maintenance or the crew becomes ineffective.

Incredible that it’s taken four months to determine that Ajax crews, from a cavalry regiment, weren’t properly trained and blame it on user error and a lack of track tension. 23 different Ajax vehicles were involved in the mass illness incident on Exercise Titan Storm. Lieutenant-General Reilly commanded a REME LAD with the Household Cavalry, the unit in question. She knows more about armour than most. I’m staggered she can give this explanation, to a former Infantry CO who operated in Warrior, with a straight face. Last week the Government confirmed that 25 personnel using Ajax between General Dynamics achieving the Initial Operating Capability criteria and Exercise Titan Storm had a noise symptom recorded on their electronic medical record since they first used it. 59 personnel had a vibration symptom recorded. And the Government still gave the platform its Initial Operating Capability.

@afneil We primarily use Aster 30 missiles on T45. However, the version of Aster 30 we use is not designed for ballistic missiles. Can it still hit them with varying degrees of success? Yes.. however we need Block 1/Block 1 NT for it to be properly effective.

Because he skirts over the issue of ballistic missiles. Sabre not designed to stop them. Aster is but it’s on our Type 45 warships, none of which is currently deployed in defence of the homeland (most are in repair/maintenance) and one has finally reached Cyprus. Plus we have no land-based ballistic missile defence. So I refer you back to my original words which you quote.
GoonerRob@robertostlund

@afneil If you agree that what he mentioned is a good representation of uk missile defence why did you write "Leaving us defenceless from ballistic missile attack." In your conclusion? Is sabre and aster so bad its not worth mentioning

London is closer to Iranian territory than Diego Garcia is. Iran has fired ballistic missiles at Diego Garcia. The United Kingdom's ability to intercept these ballistic missiles is ... nothing.

@LuckyLukeT1 @mpwarwick Type 45 can't really, not reliably, it needs Aster 30 Block 1/Block 1 NT. Typhoon and F-35 can't intercept ballistic missiles. Nor can anything else we have. We have no GBAD capable of doing it either.

@mpwarwick Type 46 Destroyers with Sea Viper systems. QRA Typhoons and F35s all with interception capabilities. Thats even if they get that close through NATO. Iran barely had the capability to overwhelm defences at close to medium range. We will be fine. But, improvements need to be made.
