My daily driver is an Alpina XB7. Probably my favorite vehicle I've ever driven for a daily driver. I can't wait to see if BMW taking over control takes the luxury badge to another level!

3x this week I sat in 200°F (93°C) dry sauna for 55 min to get my core body temp to 102.4°F (39°C) That temp, at that duration, triggers primal panic. Took blood samples before and after each session to measure heat shock protein expression. Sauna is one of the world's best longevity therapies. What we don't know is whether hitting the core temp threshold unlocks a meaningfully superior response or whether the benefits are more fundamental: vascular shear stress, nitric oxide release, sweating. Most people doing sauna never reach 102.4°F. That's high-grade fever territory. I'm excited to see the data.

The totality of evidence does not support the conclusion that dietary erythritol drives cardiovascular harm. The paper referenced claims erythritol “adversely affects brain microvascular endothelial cell function,” but it’s an in VITRO study bathing isolated cells in erythritol for 3 hours. People are using epidemiology data to frame the results of that mechanistic, in vitro study as confirming cardiovascular risk from erythritol consumption. The referenced study is interesting and possibly defensible from a mechanistic perspective, but using it to make conclusive claims about the dangers of erythritol consumption is a different story. Erythritol-harm supporters largely ignore that humans produce erythritol endogenously. It’s a byproduct of the pentose phosphate pathway, and that pathway is upregulated in states of hyperglycemia, oxidative stress, and pre-existing cardiovascular disease. The landmark paper from Nature Medicine (2023), often referenced by many who are concerned about erythritol’s safety, never controlled for this. The ARIC metabolomics study from the late 80s (before erythritol entered the food supply) already showed the erythritol-CVD association. If the signal predates dietary exposure, elevated circulating erythritol is almost certainly a biomarker of metabolic dysfunction, not necessarily the cause of it. People with diabetes and insulin resistance endogenously overproduce erythritol and might preferentially consume erythritol-sweetened products. That’s a major confounding factor, making it essentially impossible to untangle in observational data. The strongest causal evidence we have, Mendelian randomization, doesn’t support the conclusions many are making about the safety of erythritol consumption. Most MR analyses find no causal link between genetically-predicted erythritol levels and coronary artery disease, diabetes, or chronic kidney disease. A 2025 MR did find associations with CVD and stroke, but the effect sizes were negligible. It’s also worth emphasizing that MR analyses can’t distinguish endogenous from exogenous erythritol. Actual human clinical trials show erythritol improved endothelial function and reduced aortic stiffness in T2D patients over 4 weeks.

This is extremely concerning! A new study found that the sweetener used in millions of Americans' daily snacks can damage human brain cells within hours of a single serving. The FDA approved it decades ago, but the new data is worrying: (1/15)

@elliotrades I really like these lozenges. Pouches are plastic, and usually sweetened with sucralose (fucks your gut microbiome). Nicnacs are sweetened with xylitol, which is actually good for your teeth.

@bryan_johnson Never done DMT, but I've done astral projection thousands of times and all kinds of other 'things' around that sort of area, if you will. The equivalent of weeks or more, in exploration. It's tough to go back to one's tiny little physical body after that kind of expansion.

This was the most profound experience of my life. I am stunned beyond comprehension. This molecule is without peer. The 27mg dose opened up what felt like pure consciousness and intelligence. A majestic reveal of existence itself. In all its incomprehensible glory and majesty. It is impossible to explain with words. Whatever you imagine, multiply it by 1,000 and then add infinite width and depth and dimensions. But entrance was not granted without prerequisite. Existence demanded that I submit. That I say yes; without attachment and without condition. Yes to existence; yes to the dissolution of self; yes to release control; yes, to all. My ego registered the ask and panicked. It wanted control. It was desperate for control. It pleaded to escape from the torrent of light and essence that threatened to rip my sanity into chards. The urge to eject was overwhelming. Terror thundered throughout my mind and body. It took everything within me to release. I overcame and was treated with bliss that defies imagination. A euphoria colored with perfect harmony of all things. An orchestra of essence washed over me and swept me up in dance. It was home. The highest aspiration of intelligent life. For some reason, stored and tucked away as the ultimate prize. A single concept emerged in omnipresence: we cannot grok the preciousness of our existence. Yet it is everything we’ve ever wanted and more. The state we long for without knowing it exists. This caused me great pain and heartache. A swell of loyalty and devotion emerged inside me, pledging allegiance to existence. To become a warrior and caretaker of life on earth. To protect at any cost the candle of consciousness that has miraculously emerged in this part of the galaxy. What awaits will wipe all your tears, soothe all your sorrows, and infinitely exceed your wants.

The worst thing about becoming rich (500M+) is that there’s nothing to buy. You invest to increase your money, but that’s not buying things. 20 cars, 10 houses, yacht, jet, 15 diamond watches. Done. Then you’re left with PILES OF MONEY and nothing at all to buy besides steak.

Everything will change once you start flirting with life. Waking up and cinematically jumping in the ocean. Winking at the barista and telling her you like her necklace. Having the glass of wine and cig out to dinner with your boys because why the f*ck not. Quitting your job and moving across the world just for the plot. Sending dumbass emojis that make you laugh. Texting the cute girl from Twitter and telling her you were thinking about her. Your life will become more vibrant and electric once you start flirting with it. Romanticize everything. See it all as a movie. Try it for a few days and you’ll never go back.
