Munish Moudgil IAS and his team recieved the National Award for E-governance at the hands of Honble Union Minister for Science and Technology, Sri Jitendra Singh for conceptualising and implementation of Ekhata for properties in BBMP. Ekhata is an initiative to record the properties digitally so as to have clear titles away from ownership disputes making it all transparent. Though the idea itself is excellent, implementing it in mahanagar palike limits with all ifs and buts was a humongous task. And there's always resistance to implementation of anything new, anything that is technical. Gliding through these glitches, Bengaluru now has all properties digitised which will prevent land grabbing, fraudulent property transactions. Munish recieved whole hearted support from his boss and Honble Minister for Bengaluru Development Sri DK Shivakumar and from his immediate senior officer Sri Tushar Girinath to go ahead and implement Ekhata. And the best part is ,it is done without any extra cost to public exchequer. Kudos to whole team! And personally I'm a proud wife , yet again ☺️ .@IASassociation .@IASatWork

Congratulations to Munish Moudgil IAS and his team for winning Govt Of India National E-governance award, Gold category. Ever since he took charge as Special commissioner , he conceptualised and worked hands on for digitisation of E-khata for properties in Bengaluru city and without any extra cost to public exchequer. This contact-less, paperless system ensures transparency, eliminates corruption and ensures speedy delivery. Definitely this has been made achievable due to immense support of the honble Minister incharge of BBMP, Sri DK Shivakumar and Tushar Girinath IAS. Humongous task of digitisation of 25 lakhs properties in a period of about a year has been achieved due to sweat and toil of the great team with him. Glad to say Central govt has recognised the achievement. Not to mention that many other states have come forward to replicate this work. And yeah, last but not the least I congratulate myself, as goes the saying behind every successful man is his wife 😀.

On this May Day, big kudos to the workers of the world, without whom world wouldn't move an inch. Today, I fondly remember my association with them in my official capacity whenever I have been posted out of my parent dept, Police. Such an association has humbled me, adding few layers to my personality, helping me grow. It's always been a pleasure to have occupied positions out of Police. Such postings have been a blessing, bestowed immense job satisfaction that comes from doing positive things and direct association with the poor and needy brethren . A deep gratitude 🙏

New beginnings. New learnings. But zest is same. Enthusiasm is even higher. Once again amidst crowds...of a different kind, different skill set. Humbled. Took charge as Managing Director, Karnataka Silk Marketing Board. For the uninitiated, this is to say, Karnataka known for its silk sarees, Mysore Silk, produces the best quality of cocoons, silk yarn that are woven into magic by reelers, weavers. Marketing of cocoons is a sight to be seen, no less than Bombay stock exchange, in fact a notch higher than it, fully computerised end to end, totally transparent and organised; the only one of its kind in the country. I'm told there's no such organised market for any other agro product, except silk cocoons, here in the state. For farmers cultivating cocoons , life has become easier with this. At SHIDLAGHATTA COCOON MARKET, what u see is just one portion of a huge godown, while there are 13 such in this town alone. Also visited the market in Cubbonpet, (hitherto unknown to me) where trading happens between silk reelers and weavers/traders.

27th Jan of every year is the PM's Rally at Garrison parade ground, Delhi, for NCC cadets, selected from all over the country. This pic is on this day , when I was in school , representing Karnataka and Goa Directorate. Mr VP Singh was PM. Dr Raja Ramanna was minister of Defence and Science and Technology. And I was lucky to be selected to explain what is called flag area exhibition to the honble PM. NCC largely shaped my life as in, it was my first pan India exposure, that introduced me to different states, people, their culture. Secondly, my Hindi , which is relatively good for a South Indian, is due to NCC, the parade commands and other lessons of map reading and many more being in Hindi. Thirdly, the classes and tests for best cadet title, exposed me to magazines that in turn would give me an idea of civil service and how to tackle it. Else, I come from a mofussil town and I had not heard of DC/DM and SP . Last but not the least, love for Khaki and pride in Khaki made me choose IPS . And if I'm allowed to brag a bit, my sharp shooting skills also come from NCC :)

ಶಸ್ತ್ರ ತೊರೆದು, ಶರಣಾಗತರಾದ ಆರು ಮಂದಿ ನಕ್ಸಲರನ್ನು ಮುಖ್ಯಮಂತ್ರಿ @siddaramaiah ಅವರು ಇಂದು ಮುಖ್ಯವಾಹಿನಿಗೆ ಬರಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡು ಮಾತನಾಡಿದರು. ಅನ್ಯಾಯದ ವಿರುದ್ಧ, ಶೋಷಣೆ, ದೌರ್ಜನ್ಯದ ವಿರುದ್ಧ ನ್ಯಾಯಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಹೋರಾಡುವುದು ತಪ್ಪಲ್ಲ. ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆಯ ಬದಲಾವಣೆಗೆ ಹೋರಾಟ ಮಾಡಲು ಸಂವಿಧಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ಅವಕಾಶವಿದೆ. ಆದರೆ ಹೋರಾಟ ಶಾಂತಿಯುತವಾಗಿ, ನ್ಯಾಯಯುತವಾಗಿ ಮಾಡಬೇಕು. ನಕ್ಸಲಿಸಂ, ಶಸ್ತ್ರಾಸ್ತ್ರ ಹೋರಾಟಕ್ಕೆ ಸಂವಿಧಾನದಲ್ಲಿ, ಪ್ರಜಾಪ್ರಭುತ್ವ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅವಕಾಶವಿಲ್ಲ. ಈ ಹಿಂದೆಯೂ ಬಹಳ ನಕ್ಸಲೀಯರು ಶಸ್ತ್ರಾಸ್ತ ತ್ಯಜಿಸಿ ಮುಖ್ಯಧಾರೆಗೆ ಬಂದಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಇವರ ಪುನರ್‌ ವಸತಿಗೆ ಸರ್ಕಾರ ನೆರವು ಒದಗಿಸಿದೆ. ಶಾಂತಿಗಾಗಿ ನಾಗರಿಕ ವೇದಿಕೆಯವರು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಭೇಟಿ ಮಾಡಿ ನಕ್ಸಲಿಯರ ಮನವೊಲಿಸುವ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ತಿಳಿಸಿದ್ದರು. ಆ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ನಕ್ಸಲಿಸಂ ತ್ಯಜಿಸಿ ಮುಖ್ಯವಾಹಿನಿಗೆ ಬರಲು ಸರಕಾರ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ನೆರವು ನೀಡಲಿದೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದ್ದೆ. ನಾವು ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದಲ್ಲಿ ನಕ್ಸಲಿಸಂ ಕೊನೆಗಾಣಿಸಲು, ಅವರ ಬೇಡಿಕೆಗೆ ಸ್ಪಂದಿಸಲು ಏನೆಲ್ಲಾ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮ ಬೇಕೋ ಅದನ್ನು ಕಾನೂನು ಚೌಕಟ್ಟಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾಡುತ್ತೇವೆ. ಶಸ್ತ್ರಾಸ್ತ್ರದ ಮೂಲಕ ಹೋರಾಟ ಮಾಡಿ ನ್ಯಾಯ ಪಡೆಯಲು ಪ್ರಜಾಪ್ರಭುತ್ವದಲ್ಲಿ, ಸಂವಿಧಾನದಲ್ಲಿ‌ ಅವಕಾಶವಿಲ್ಲ. ಶಾಂತಿಯುತವಾಗಿ ಹೋರಾಟ ನಡೆಸಲು ಪ್ರಜಾಪ್ರಭುತ್ವದಲ್ಲಿ ಅವಕಾಶವಿದೆ. ಸರ್ಕಾರ ಇದನ್ನು ವಿರೋಧಿಸುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಆದರೆ ಕಾನೂನು ಕೈಗೆತ್ತಿಕೊಂಡರೆ ಸರ್ಕಾರ ಸುಮ್ಮನಿರಲ್ಲ. ಅನ್ಯಾಯ ಕಡಿಮೆ ಮಾಡಲು ನಮ್ಮ ಸರ್ಕಾರ ಬಹಳ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದೆ. ಯಾರ ಮೇಲೆಯೂ ಅನ್ಯಾಯ ಆಗಬಾರದು ಎಂಬುವುದು ನಮ್ಮ ಧ್ಯೇಯ. ಬಡವರ ಹಕ್ಕುಗಳ ರಕ್ಷಣೆಗಾಗಿ, ಅವರಿಗೆ ಆರ್ಥಿಕವಾಗಿ, ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕವಾಗಿ ಶಕ್ತಿ ಬರಲು ಅನೇಕ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮ ಜಾರಿ ಮಾಡಿದೆ. ಗ್ಯಾರಂಟಿ ಯೋಜನೆಗಳಾದ ಶಕ್ತಿ, ಗೃಹಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಿ ಯೋಜನೆಗಳ ಉದ್ದೇಶವೂ ಇದೇ ಆಗಿದೆ. ಬಡವರು ಗೌರವಯುತವಾಗಿ ಬದುಕಲು ಅವಕಾಶ ಸಿಗಲಿದೆ. ಬಡವರಿಗೆ ಆರ್ಥಿಕ ಮತ್ತು ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕವಾಗಿ ಬದುಕಲು ಶಕ್ತಿ ಬಂದರೆ ಮಾತ್ರ ಸಮಾಜದಲ್ಲಿ ಬದಲಾವಣೆ ಸಾಧ್ಯ. ನಕ್ಸಲಿಸಂ ಮುಕ್ತವಾದ ಸಮಾಜ ನಮ್ಮ ಗುರಿ. ಈ ಹಿನ್ನೆಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮುಖ್ಯವಾಹಿನಿಗೆ ಬರುವ ನಕ್ಸಲಿಯರಿಗೆ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ರೀತಿಯ ನೆರವು ನೀಡುವುದಾಗಿ ಬಹಿರಂಗವಾಗಿ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದೆ. ಅವರನ್ನು ಕ್ರಿಮಿನಲ್‌ಗಳ ರೀತಿ ನೋಡದೆ, ಮಾನವರಂತೆ ನೋಡುವ ಭರವಸೆ ನೀಡಿದ್ದೆ. ನಕ್ಸಲೀಯರ ಶರಣಾಗತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸಮಿತಿಯ ಸದಸ್ಯರ ಪಾತ್ರ ಮುಖ್ಯವಾಗಿದ್ದು, ಅವರಿಗೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಈ ನಿಟ್ಟಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಕಾರ್ಯನಿರ್ವಹಿಸಿದ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಧನ್ಯವಾದ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಬಯಸುತ್ತೇನೆ.

Honble Chief Minister appreciated the team upon surrender of six naxals on 8th January. It would be pertinent to remember that a month and a half ago, in an encounter between AntiNaxal Force( ANF) and the naxals, the most wanted naxal of South India Vikram gowda died. Government was always in favour of naxals giving up violence and coming to the mainstream of society. The encounter incident and the government 's new policy of surrender hastened the surrender process. Thankful for the support of Government, honble CM, honble DCM and honble HM during the whole exercise that has culminated in achieving the desirable end, in making Karnataka naxalism-free state. The team of ANF of all ranks deserves special mention who braved rough weather, stayed in forest, risking life and giving up cosy life. Men have come and gone for last 20 years of ANF after its creation in 2005. Their efforts that always added up to the present achievement is to be remembered for all times. Kudos to State Level Committee on naxal surrender and rehabilitation with officers from State Intelligence and ANF and most importantly civil society members who kept the talks on and convinced, coaxed the naxals to surrender. All is well that ends well. Sarve janaah sukhino bhavantu.

2014 to 2024: Unless the civil society makes a proactive effort and parents take a bit of intrusive investigation into lives of their kids(nothing wrong in it , for the good of children who are our present national asset), this menace of drug abuse remains a challenge. And it would be our national duty to preserve the resources of the country; what better resource than human resource.

When he became the finance minister, changes in economy happened so fast and steady with Indian economy opening floodgates for liberalisation, globalisation that what I was studying in Economics as a subject from textbooks (in 11th and 12th) was everyday becoming obsolete and redundant.
