Toph is Aang’s best teacher overall because she didn’t just teach him earthbending , she taught him how to stand his ground. Aang’s biggest weakness was always hesitation and avoidance, while earthbending requires absolute firmness and confidence. Toph forced him to stop running, face problems head on, and trust himself. She literally shaped both his fighting style and his mindset.

@JudeOAkp I am of the opinion that Kishimoto did not do justice to these guys. You can't save them through the power of friendship. He should have killed them off during the war or sealed them in a dimension far away from humans. They were criminals and still are.
