how are you people to retarded to understand that hitlers way of speaking and tactics in his speeches is not only one of the main reasons he was able to rise to power but also is used across the political spectrum. a hitler style rant is also a churchill style rant, a stalin style rant, a lenin style rant, a joe biden style rant, a trump style rant and so on

@pensandpoison > colonial invader People of Troy would presumably share that assessment, and it's not clear to me they'd be wrong. And call me woke if you like (everything is relative), but killing those 12 female slaves was not a nice thing to do if you ask me.

In her introduction to her Odyssey translation, Emily Wilson calls Odysseus a “soldier with a traumatic past” and a “colonial invader.” Stop going after Christopher Nolan. His cowardly Odysseus is simply a reflection of this godawful biased translation he read.

Up to 10% of American women 18-25 are prostitutes - drug dealers selling vasopressin and prolactin for cash - while almost 100% of women over 25 blame men for porn. This is the SAME MODEL as drug dealing. Why do women blame the dealer for drug use, but the addict for porn?

Odysseus saying “our age of bronze is collapsing” was probably the stupidest line in the entire movie. It would be like a Medieval man saying “the Middle Ages are almost over”. Middle of what? It’s the PRESENT to them!!!

At this point, the self-doubting, morally grey, guilt-ridden hero has to be the biggest cliche out there. But it is fascinating how traditional heroism has become such a target to the postmodern Left.

@Panagiotou90St Nolan not only brought in Sinon from Virgil’s Aenid to replace Achilles in the underworld He totally changed Sinon - no longer cousin of Odysseus, nor a veteran warrior who talked his way back out of Troy and lived, but a weak victim to guilt Odysseus

Cicero had a far better philosophical understanding of the Odyssey than Nolan. Odysseus’ denial of immortality and eternal youth, just like encountering Achilles in the underworld, and the scene where he and the ghost of his mother tried and failed to embrace each other would have been cinematic gold. Apparently, Nolan cared more about fabricating an entire side-narrative to portray Odysseus in the most negative light he has ever been portrayed in a movie.

A gay cruise with nearly 2,000 passengers got turned away by Turkey, then turned away again at its backup stop in Egypt One passenger went on camera blaming Trump for it, saying countries now feel “emboldened” to show “prejudice” Turkey banned Pride marches back in 2015. Egypt has been prosecuting people under morality laws for over a decade. This has been the reality the entire time. Blaming an American president is easier I guess 🤦‍♂️

Second thoughts on @odysseymovie: Nolan has stripped Odysseus of his cunning and crafty logic- he is a warrior riddled with guilt and self loathing. It makes for a dreary ride. And yes there is a feminist overlay: Every woman in the piece are all wise, and the men are quite literally depicted as “pigs”. And for all the talk of epic, grand filmmaking the movie felt spare to me. Huge in scope, lacking anything of visual interest to fill the IMAX screen with. Watch the scenes with Charlize Theron and Damon when he is under the Sea nymph, Calyspo’s spell. Scenically, they mope along flat beach scapes with Theron wearing a net. Ditto for the “dragons” that attack Odysseus and his men. No telling what these things are. Even the fall of Troy looked cut rate (the paper mache towers flopping over!). The Costumes also felt like they were picked up at the Athens Spirit Halloween. Perhaps it was the hype and absurdly fawning reviews that sold what is a mid- level film as a masterpiece. Should it beat box office expectations a special Oscar should be awarded to Universal’s publicity and marketing departments for Best Supporting Sales Job of a Mediocre Movie.
Raymond Arroyo@RaymondArroyo

Just saw Nolan’s #TheOdyssey. As much as I wanted to like it, it’s a long tedious affair; short on surprises ( though there are a few gross out moments) and just indulgent. The Return, with Ralph Fiennes last year was a far superior adaptation of the Odyssey finale. Matt Damon was fine, but on the whole these were far from the career defining performances sold in so many reviews. This is Oppenheimer in Spartan attire. Wait for it to stream.

@fandompulse Strawman version of Ben Shapiro Didn’t argue ‘Greeks aren’t White’ but that at the point casting is broadening from just Greeks to all Whites, he finds it less defensible to hold that line and exclude non-Whites

Ben Shapiro defends Lupita Nyong'o being cast in The Odyssey as Helen of Troy on the grounds "Greeks aren't white": “If you want to make the case everybody needs to be Greek to be authentic, I think you can make that case. If you want to make the case everybody has to be white, I think that that is a lesser case, because white people and Greek are not quite the same thing.” Do you agree with him?

Has anybody actually come up with a theory of how the Diversity Casting in "The Odyssey" makes the movie better? So far, all I've heard from defenders is that they HATE everybody who finds it distracting and damaging to suspension of disbelief.

It seems like the film's advertising did basically everything right. There was no "muh diversity" or "decolonizing the Odyssey" or whatever, just regular casting that prioritized talent rather than race/gender ID/etc. Didn't matter, the chuds still pissed themselves with anger
Fletcher Williams “I Suck At Games” Channel@Fletche64618733

These are facts about The Odyssey. Which begs the question: Why were the actors so prominent in the advertising for this film?

The Odyssey isn’t woke; Chris Nolan is just continuing the pre-Obama idea of being race-blind and focusing on acting ability. Right-wing influencers are the ones infected with the woke-mind virus; they see it behind every bush and get triggered. In reality Nolan is just someone from twenty years ago trying to make a good film.
