🚨🚨PSA🚨🚨 Reintroducing Fish’s Vintage Card Deals! Fish’s Vintage Card Deals is a website that I have been working on diligently for over 6 months now and am excited to reintroduce to you guys! There are two components to this site: the Deal Finder, and the Comp Finder Deal Finder: The deal finder is designed to help users make/save money when searching for vintage cards on eBay by only showing active listings that are potentially underpriced in relation to recent sales averages of the same card in the same grade. Only active listings that are listed below the average sales price are filtered through as potential purchases. This makes the eBay buying experience MUCH more enjoyable. Comp Finder: This tool is very similar to the other comp sites you can use (for a fee). I have partnered with a company to help gather and calculate recent average sales prices of a particular card by averaging all of the sales in the most recent 90 day period of a particular card in a particular grade. The current data isn’t quite as accurate as the larger companies, but we are working to improve this as time goes on a we capture more sales. My goal with the site is to make it accessible to ALL in the vintage community and my plan is to keep the site 100% FREE to use going forward. However, because of the upkeep costs involved in keeping the site running, in order for the site to remain free the user base must continuously grow and utilize the deal finder to purchase cards through eBay for collections or resell. I truly created this site with collectors and dealers in the vintage space in mind and want this to be a great resource for all of you. @RaunnieSmith Agreed. Yet if you hit a dinker pop up just behind 2nd base and the runner tags and scores it’s considered a sacrifice? It’s an interesting ruling to me.

@DaCardShop The intent can still be there on the ground if you intentionally hit it to a deep playing infielder or something. Up the middle, or to the right side for a 2B shading for a pull hitter. Maybe more skill in that actually….

Discussion post here! Baseball Game Scenario: There is a runner on 3rd base with nobody out. The hitter hits a fly ball to center field and the run comes in to score. That is of course considered a sacrifice fly and the hitter is not credited with an at bat. However, in the same exact scenario if the hitter hits a grounder to short stop and the run scores it DOES count as an at bat and he is considered 0-1. I’ve always been curious as to why there is a difference? As a former hitter, it made no sense to me why the hitter is punished for driving in a run via grounder as opposed to a pop up. Anyone have any thoughts or answers?

@benfuqua Agreed. Either only have bunts as sacrifices or make any batted ball that drives in a “sacrifice hit” or something like that. The discrepancy is just weird to me.

@DaCardShop Great question. I’ve always thought the “sac fly” shouldn’t be a “sacrifice” at all…bunt, yes…fly, no. The batters intent with the fly is to get a hit, not give themselves up.

@Gnew_cards @VincePagano Oh I agree 100% but no hitter is going up to the plate TRYING to fly out. They are all going up trying to square the ball up and if they miss, miss as a pop up. Realistically in my eyes the only true sacrifices are bunts. The discrepancy in the rule is just odd to me.

@DaCardShop @VincePagano I agree with Vince. I guess it is easier to intentionally hit a fly ball that would most likely score someone versus the unpredictability of a grounder whereas many times a runner would not score. Hard shots to the corners or back to the pitcher. Much lower odds I would think.

@VincePagano It’s just interesting to me that a hitter is negatively affected by hitting a grounder as apposed to hitting a pop up when the result is exactly the same.

@DaCardShop The philosophy is basically if you hit it on the ground your intent was to maybe leg it out or force an error, while a pop up the runner has to wait to tag and your intent was more to give up yourself for a run. Wonky I know.

I am potentially looking for someone to take the reins on this site that has a bit more time and development skills than I do. I really do believe in the concept of the site and think it can succeed. I just do not have the time or the ability to turn it into what it could be.
