Critically Endangered Sighting: Smalltooth Sawfish on Baited Camera Drop!
I deployed my camera rig loaded with bait to the seafloor in 53 feet of water just a few miles from Florida's Jupiter Inlet. The biodiversity was incredible, but the star of the show was the appearance of a Smalltooth Sawfish (Pristis pectinata). This species is federally protected and critically endangered. Watching it approach and use its rostrum (saw) to investigate the bait was a remarkable privilege.
The footage also captured a lot of action, including a small, energetic shark and various other identified species feeding. A truly exciting look at the marine ecosystem off SE Florida!

@captainjohn Thanks John, doesn't always happen that way but it did this time when it counted!

Incredible encounter with a GREAT WHITE SHARK out of Jupiter, Florida!
While freediving a shipwreck 4 miles off the coast I speared an amberjack. Moments later a great white shark appeared. We dove with it for about 10 minutes before it swam away.
This was my first time seeing a great white and I’m so thankful for the experience. I was very excited to say the least!

@aLex62297 I have an insta360x4. The video quality is significantly worse than the DJI Osmo Action 5 pros that I use so I don't use it much.

I lowered a puzzle box 81 feet to the ocean floor to see which fish could figure out how to get the bait inside. I was hoping the box would survive the experiment.
A spotted moray eel, sharks, and a pair of massive Goliath groupers all stopped by to investigate.
Watch until the end to see which fish finally broke into the puzzle box.

One of my favorite things to do is explore the underwater world with my kids. On this adventure, we started with a quick snorkel just off the beach in Jupiter, FL, where we were greeted by a beautiful school of Caribbean reef squid. From there, we visited a few nearby rock piles and discovered sea turtles, massive goliath groupers, and plenty of other marine life along the way. Come join us on this underwater adventure and see what we discovered!

Every morning during sea turtle nesting season, the beach tells the story of what happened overnight. This morning's drone flight revealed dozens of fresh turtle tracks leading to newly dug nests, along with nests that had already been marked from previous nights. I also came across a sea turtle monitor documenting one of the fresh nests before beachgoers arrived.
It's incredible to see just how much nesting activity is taking place right here along our local beaches. Every one of these nests represents another chance for the next generation of sea turtles to make it back to the ocean.
If you'd like to help support sea turtle conservation, my OCEAN LIFE 2027 Calendar is now available for preorder. A portion of every presale will be donated to Loggerhead Marinelife Center , helping support their work to rescue, rehabilitate, research, and protect these incredible animals and the marine environment they depend on.
Thank you to everyone who has already placed an order and is helping make a difference. Reserve your copy here:

As soon as I put my face in the water, I thought I saw a couple of sand dollars on the bottom. I dove down for a closer look… and realized they were everywhere. The farther I looked, the more I saw. In every direction, the sandy bottom was absolutely carpeted with them. There had to be thousands. The most surprising part? It looked totally unremarkable from the surface. Just a plain, featureless sandy bottom that most divers would glide over without a second thought. I immediately grabbed my camera because I’ve never seen a sand dollar bed this massive before.

Most people drive over this bridge without realizing what's living beneath it.
Join me underwater in Jupiter, Florida, where we encounter a school of Caribbean reef squid, a juvenile black grouper, a massive school of snook, and explore mangroves that serve as a nursery for marine life.
This is the narrated version of the dive. Come explore this hidden underwater world with me.

I filmed this from my drone this morning in Florida, and within minutes a couple of snorkelers found themselves approaching a large school of sharks.
If you think you know how the encounter ended, you may be surprised.
The footage also includes a manatee, a spotted eagle ray, a huge school of tarpon, and several other amazing marine animals.
Let me know which encounter was your favorite.
