Criticism of the merits of post-liberalism aside (there are many), I do not think it is beyond the pale of inclusion at a place like @ISI. One can surely be opposed to post-liberal influences within the conservative canon without indicting an entire institution for inviting its foremost thinker, I.e. @PatrickDeneen. ISI is the forum for all respectable conservative views. That said, any institution that shuts the door on “boomercons,” “right-liberals,” “neocons” (SCARY) is doing themselves a huge disservice. @ISI—and @ModAgeJournal for that matter— is great and enduring because it was an incubator for conservatism no matter the strain. It was lose all of that if it is siloed—no matter “what time it is.” The correct answer is to be willing to include post-liberalism just as much as the willingness to include Frank Meyer’s Fusionism, Russell Kirk’s communitarianism, and Irving Kristol’s Neoconservatism. Is that currently breadth of intellectual diversity reflected in @ISI today? I’m not sure. But purging one strain for the sake of the other is probably not the answer—and I’m assuming that this is something that both the “Old Right” and “New Right” will both find not much comfort in. Neither are innocent.

If @LoConservative hits 50k followers before our relaunch, I’ll do it.

@KassyAkiva Wait a second…weren’t you supposed to livestream yourself watching The Princess Bride if @LoConservative reached a certain number of followers? Did that ever happen? If not, then I will happily contribute to a fundraiser of your choosing to make this happen. 😊

My career began with the conservative movement when I was a 20-year-old college student. I founded my own organization, went to as many conservative events as I could, I spoke on college campuses and I loved it all so much. Sometime in 2019-2020, I had enough. The infighting was too much. The movement being infiltrated by people I rather have ignored than debate was too much. So I took a step back. I shifted from commentary to reporting and focused on foreign relations as my beat. I stopped going to conservative conferences, I mostly stopped making domestic conservative content, and I let Lone Conservative close. The murder of Charlie Kirk is making me reflect back on those years of me being a student activist and realize that they were some of my best. I regret ever giving up on the conservative movement. I regret taking the movement that launched my career for granted. I regret not doing more. That ends now.

A disturbing amount of people seem to believe the void left by Charlie Kirk is inevitably going to be filled by radicals, from Nick Fuentes to BAP. A not-insignificant part of the work for young conservatives in the coming years is to ensure this does. Not. Happen. Full stop.

I’m really sad that this many people cheer the death of someone for opinions that your average conservative holds. There are hundreds of thousands, if not millions of people that would cheer if you or me were shot. I naively thought better than that until the past two days.

@ayaankaran_ Honestly I think there’s a pretty solid body of historical films that have conservative leanings. Our issue comes from an inability to break into pop culture with conservative fictional works.
