I'm getting ready for a darkness retreat in a few days where I'll spend 5 days in total darkness alone. I'll record my experiences when I return and any accumulated gnosis or theosis insights. The ultimate goal is to build up to a proper 49-day retreat like the Dzogchen do while contemplating the Bardo Thodöl, but this effort will take several years of developing stronger meditative practices and learning how to integrate the wisdom gained. I'm mentioning this trip on X since the last time I went off the grid to Alaska, many assumed I died or rugged. Also, and less cynically, I know many of you enjoy my personal attempts to gain a deeper understanding of myself and the world. Some want to share their own experiences or advice. I've come to greatly appreciate it and always view my cup as empty when it comes to well-meaning suggestions. The reality is that in a world of AGI, gnosis is the last truly human bastion against the fall of episteme and the algorithmic enslavement of doxa. Ironically, the absence of everything is the path to finding something. Thus, a little darkness benefits us all in our growth.
