I’ve looked into this very minimally, so I’m genuinely asking. Why are people opposing data centers so hard? My gut feeling is it’s hippies opposing nuclear power 2.0, but I’m willing to be convinced otherwise.

It's not so much against the DC, its against where they put them. They're dropping them into residential areas in peoples back yards. They're LOUD. 6 foot fans drowning 24/7. Depending on your hearing you can hear them from about a mile to a half mile away. Its like a bunch of diesel trains idling. The water and power issues are just part of it. If they add onsite electric generators, its just amplified.

This semester, I had a student who showed up to my class ZERO times. I allowed students, including him, to turn in some assignments late, and he did okay. He failed, then emailed angrily asking, “Why?” I mean, you missed 7 in-class assignments, including the midterm. lol

I would love to tour Japan because of the food and the countryside. I love anime as well. I'd be tempted to see a Japanese high school just to see it anime does them justice. I wouldn't be interested in much else anime, other than some stores maybe. Unless there are giant robots somewhere I can look at them, lol
