In October 1944, US Army pilot Martin James Monti flew a stolen P-38 reconnaissance airplane to Milan and turned himself in to the Germans. He said he wanted to join the Nazis for ideological reasons, and he was added to the SS propaganda division. Monti participated in a radio program titled "The Round Table Conference" on German state media, which put out anti-American propaganda in the form of discussion and commentary on political issues (sounds familiar @TCNetwork?) How did a good American boy end up being charged with treason and sentenced to 25 years in prison at the end of WWII? The answer is in one name: Father Charles Coughlin. In the 1930s, Father Coughlin dominated the American airwaves with antisemitic, isolationist, conspiracy-riddled ideology; Monti was an enthusiastic admirer of Charles Coughlin, which radicalized him and led him to commit treason against the US. Americans who think the poison that @TuckerCarlson is pumping into the airwaves and internet are not going to have any consequences to our national security, have not read history.
