Growing up, our family doctor had two kids. His son was brilliant.
Finished secondary school. Got admission almost immediately.
Graduated. Did NYSC.
Before we knew it, he was already in Germany, doing well.
Everything looked like it was working out perfectly.
Then we heard he had an accident.
He was on life support for a long time. His dad flew to Germany and brought him back home for treatment. They got him the best care they could.
He didn’t survive.
His mum never recovered from it. A year or two later, she passed too.
Life is strange.
You can be doing everything “right.”
You can be ahead.
You can look like you’ve made it.
And then… everything changes.
This isn’t to scare anyone.
It’s just a reminder.
Stop envying people’s timelines.
Stop thinking you’re behind.
Stop assuming someone’s highlight reel means they’re guaranteed tomorrow.
Everyone’s journey is different.
And none of us truly knows how long it is.
Focus on your path.
Move with intention.
And don’t waste today comparing.
