I just came across this concept "antagonistic pleiotropy", which is saying that some negative influence in life, like aging-related disease, not being removed by nature selection is becuase it might be beneficial in the earlier stage of life. Mind blowing

@schwoerersimon Whaaat? That’s so cool, didn’t know aging could be beneficial! Is that’s why old cells kinda loss control of what to express and what not to as well?

@DaiqingC I published a paper on this in my PhD in 2016, which showed that developmental pathways that are good for us and are usually shut down become reactive during aging because of inability to repress chromatin.
