When your kids ask to play with you, remember that the actual ask is "I want to spend time with you". They ask to play because play is all they know. If you'd rather do a project (gardening, making an IKEA shelf), just propose doing it with them. They'll be just as excited.

Dads: a simple reframe that has helped me actually want to play with my kids more: There is going to be a last time that they ever ask me to play together, I won't know when that will be, and that I'll desperately wish for it again once it's past. Life is brief. Truly savor it.

Can’t help but feel that a core part of the campaign to further immiserate the working class is to remove every single opportunity to interact with other members of society. Between the obliteration of third spaces to things like this, feels like they want to keep us all siloed in our homes, glued to screens.

The truth is when movies are bad, people watch them at home. That’s the real reason audiences stay away from theaters. If the films aren’t worth the trip, they get treated like background noise on Netflix instead of an event on the big screen. Watching at home is just a reflection of that. Strong movies make the format matter, weak ones don’t. When a film has real weight, you want the theater. When it doesn’t, you settle for the couch.
