This is our International Airport. What city, province, country is it in? It does NOT say Vancouver. It does NOT say British Columbia. It does NOT say Canada. It says Musqueam. Go figure.

Age yourself by naming an MLB first baseman you grew up watching. I’ll start: Albert Pujols.

Last summer, when I was the first to flag the serious potential private property impacts of the Cowichan decision, the NDP accused me of fearmongering. Now, British Columbians are seeing the very real impacts with their own eyes. I’ll make sure we defend private property rights with everything we have. Cut the funding. Just cut it. Cut the funding to any and every indigenous tribe that files an aboriginal title claim over fee simple lands owned by private citizens. Do it, @Dave_Eby and watch those claims disappear.

This is an interesting communications strategy. Question: What if the political discourse went from making people think that land acknowledgements are serious, solemn undertakings (implying great weight attached to them) to instead arguing that land acknowledgments are no big deal? What if instead we argued that land acknowledgments always were just a way to be polite and don't really change a thing? Would shifting the tone to no-big-deal defuse the growing tensions we see around this file? Would it be accurate if we did? I'm not sure of any of those things to be honest. All I know is we've got two sides in the Legislature right now both asserting competing visions of economic ruin (immeasurable chaos if we don't cooperate in exactly the way the NDP wants) vs (chaos if we do continue to cooperate in the way the NDP wants) and both sides by implication are making this topic seem pretty scary to average voters... #bcpoli

It’s unfortunate to see a number of bands making light of what is an extremely divisive time in our politics. For the first time in our history, homeowners are receiving official letters from the government informing them that their home may no longer belong to them. This is not hyperbole; it’s real, and as a Member of Parliament, it is my duty to stand up for my constituents and their rights. Additionally, decision-making authority over public lands including parks, forestry and other developments, are increasingly being transferred to groups that 95% of British Columbians have no ability to vote for or hold democratically accountable – all on the basis of ethnicity. Most of all, we need to end the kind of identity politics that pits Canadians against one another. Whether you are Indigenous or not, we are all Canadians. We all belong here, and we all deserve to call this place home.

We are pleased to announce the promotion of @AlikAngaladian to Senior Principal & Strategic Growth Lead, reflecting our firm’s continued growth and commitment to delivering results for clients. Please join us in congratulating her on this well-deserved promotion.

@Dallas4BC @ChrisParry If it’s about race, are the other bands upset by the Musqueam ruling racist? Anyone who discusses it, are they racist? The trailer park band has a right to evict old, mentally ill people from their homes but is it a good time? You decide.

The K’omoks First Nation has given notice that residents at the Queneesh Mobile Home park have less than two years to move off the property. K’omoks have aboriginal title to the land. "There's no place to move our trailers to on the Island. We are stuck. We have put our life savings into this trailer, and now we have to leave with nothing. That is ludicrous," said Kathy Jenkins, a park resident of 34 years.
