💣🚨 𝗡𝗘𝗪: Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has just finished one of the most UNFORGETTABLE press conferences in football history. • He’s ‘sorry that he won’t resign,’ instead calling for an election 3 years early and threatening other candidates to run against him ‘if they can' • The first questions are sporting-related, but immediately he says that he will not be talking about sporting matters • Insists that Real Madrid is not a dictatorship, that he has been the best president of all time, winning 74 titles, and that the only way they will get him out is if ‘they shoot him’ • Claims that Real Madrid players ‘fight every season,’ and that it’s totally normal. At least 4 or 5 players hit each other per year. Defends both Tchouameni and Valverde as ‘good kids’ • Picks out his phone from his pocket to start reading news and laughing at fake news from multiple outlets, mainly ABC • Singles out an ABC journalist as ‘a woman who doesn’t even know if she knows about football’ • Saying he’s a supernatural animal, a beast that works day and night, denying rumors of cancer and tiredness • Attacks Barcelona for the Negreira case, saying it’s the most disgraceful scandal in football history, and that they have prepared a document to send to UEFA to report Barcelona • Confirms Real Madrid have the most valuable squad in the world according to Transfermarkt • Starts arguing with journalists in front of him during the press conference, threatening to cancel his subscriptions to the media • Calls himself a construction mogul, claiming his companies generate billions of euros in revenue worldwide • Claims he called the presser to defend Real Madrid from the robberies, saying he would have at least 7 more league titles if they ‘weren’t robbed from him’ • Urged the fans and members of the club to support the players, not boo them • Says good night, and leaves the room saying he hopes to never see the journalists again

It's not non sequitur to mention advantages that I've had strictly because I'm a man. I don't prescribe to your theory then men have no inherent advantages in today's society. After all, many advantages women have that you may deem "unfair" exist because of men, like pretty privilege.

@Dallas_DILF You’re addressing a strawman. I said MEN, the group, have no inherent advantages in modern society which you deem just the natural order. Individuals will have inherent advantages but the entire discussion here is centered around the macro, discussing the micro is non sequitur.

I had a former younger female colleague that’s legitimately beautiful and as soon as she was hired, our practice group chair took her under his wing. She became partner in record time. Meanwhile they ground me into the ground until I burned out. This is definitely a thing.

One of the craziest things in my 20s was finding out that nearly every post college woman I knew somehow had a "mentor," ie a boomer male who went out of his way to professionally guide her

I've been doing this long enough to know that many people have advantages others don't. I've had my own and never felt remorse about it. Both advantages and disadvantages can be created. And sometimes having an easier path isn't always better. I got valuable experience that she didn't.

@Dallas_DILF This is great advice if there were any valuable inherent advantage men have, just disadvantages to overcome. To paint it like you did is just softcore feminism and masochism.

@CamoDiver What person, man or woman, wouldn't capitalize on any advantages they have? There will always be some who have advantages you don't. But when your opportunities come, it's on you to jump on them. And, in the end, these things have a way of leveling out over time.

Try claiming "it's just the way of the world" when men communicate unpleasant truths in a blunt, pragmatic fashion and insist on mental toughness from their coworkers. You'll be sued. It's the same pattern over and over—women exploiting their natural advantages is applauded, while men using their natural advantages is harshly punished. Don't be surprised when young men want to burn those places to the ground.

@KhomPewter Ironically, many women are far tougher on their female subordinates than they are on men. So this trend slows or even reverses as women get promoted to more senior roles. Things have a way of evening out over time in many organizations, in my observation.

@Dallas_DILF It's always assumed that attractive women in the workplace will leverage their natural performance boost. But at this point, they've decided to discard the men and just go with only women from hereon.

@Middytime In most law firms, promotions are not a zero sum game. Ultimately she had to hit the same targets as everyone else that made partner. They didn't lower the standards for her, she just got an early advantage that others didn't. Having an easier path isn't always better.

@Dallas_DILF Because promotions are a zero sum game and your story implies she was given preference because of being a female with looks.

@E_Swrites Resentment can consume you if you allow it. At the end of the day, there will be plenty of opportunities to get ahead in the professional world. Do good work, make meaningful contributions, and you'll usually do just as well as those who get an easier path.

@Dallas_DILF Thank you for this reply. As someone who wasted a lot of mental/emotional energy (and time) over that exact resentment. I need to acknowledge it's existance and move on. So, thank you. From one stranger to another.

@Middytime Why the fuck would I expect her to offer fairness? She was a colleague, not my boss. She still put in the work and hit her targets. I decided to pursue another opportunity long before she made partner. Her accomplishments didn't come at my expense.

You likely don’t resent her because you’ve swallowed boomer ‘meritocracy’ propaganda. Let me ask you this: Did this woman notice that you were being slighted while she was promoted? Did she reach out to you? Offer you fairness? Or did she blast off and never look back at you again?

@Middytime I'll agree with you there. I never resented her for receiving the mentorship and opportunities she got. I resented the partners for not giving the rest of us the same. I spent years trying to overcome the burn out I suffered from that job.

@Middytime Correct. She did get placed on the fast track, but she also took advantage of her opportunities. Another former colleague received similar opportunities early on, but she squandered them. In the professional world, if you're not good enough, you won't last long.

@jodiecongirl 100%. She’s intelligent and had a great attitude. They didn’t work her to death like the rest of us so she was able to avoid the exhaustion and resentment many of us developed from the work load. She had an advantage and capitalized on it. Many cases where someone doesn’t.
