If you require a disabled person to apologise for their literal disability, you’re at fault.
No if’s, no buts, no maybe’s.
Whether they choose to offer an apology is irrelevant, they have no need to in the above.

I have no idea why I have taken on this fight, bearing in mind what a cess pit of stupidity this platform seems to be on this issue.
Maybe it's because I remember so vividly watching the QED documentary, "John's Not Mad" as a child in 1988, and it staying with me?
Maybe it's because I am so sick of intent being completely ignored in these insane times, and hurt feelings taking precedence over everything else?
Maybe it's because out of all the 'prejudices' we constantly seem to talk about, those with disabilities seem to get forgotten a bit?
Or maybe it's because the whole thing has just irritated me so much? Why are people so unbelievably stupid, and want to make someone with a lifelong condition feel far worse about it? And their solution to be he apologises, or basically never goes out?
It's quite staggering.

@DamdVI @DiscussingFilm If they bump into you presumably you weren’t facing them so you also couldn’t see. No one was technically at fault but the right thing to do is still apologize. If you pee on yourself cause a disabled person is taking too long in that bathroom that’s entirely on you

And a single, involuntary word, expressed as a disability is “harm”, but peeing yourself is “inconvenient “?
Common factor is you not the disabled person.

@DamdVI @DiscussingFilm There’s a big difference between actual harm and a minor inconvenience. A more appropriate analogy would be a blind person bumping into someone and apologizing. And even then that’s still more of a minor inconvenience but one they should apologize for nonetheless

@DamdVI @DiscussingFilm They do need to apologize, not for having a disability but for the harm committed. If a blind person hurts my foot by accident, it would be expected that they apologize. Not for being blind but for harming someone.
The intent (although important) does not erase the impact.
