@onlydlb @daniellismore Everyone should pay fair taxes. It's unsustainable that effective tax rates actually decline at the very top of the income distribution. And Big Tech paying little taxes based on their income is a global problem.

@Damianwithad @daniellismore “Taxing billionaires” is a one-time event and when that money runs out you will move to “taxing millionaires”, and then those who own property. This isn’t sustainable so you’re left with the expectation that “international companies” will pay to fix all of society’s ills. 🙈

@daniellismore Greens say things like “nationalise water” and then start a gay rave without ever mentioning where the £90-100b is coming from to pay for it. That magic money tree must be fucking huge.

@RMDiLillo @jbulltard1 So why is Iran winning? The regime is still in power. They maintained a missile program. They established control over Hormuz traffic. Partially, they expelled the US from the Middle East and got sanctions partially removed.

I love all of you but this isn’t 4d chess. He cannot taco this like he did last year there’s almost no way out without Iran winning so it’s his choice do we wanna sink the global economy or cut our losses and now Iran runs Hormuz which it didn’t a month ago.

@RMDiLillo @jbulltard1 Please explain how anyone can secure long-term an island? Any forces located on any of these islands will be under constant drone and missle attacks. There's no way to establish a secure supply line either.

Oh ya I don't think we are planning a ground invasion at all. We are aiming to take the small islands in Hormuz to secure them and likely return to UAE long term. Possibly take Kharg bc if we own Kharg we own the purse of the govt and can control who is in charge to a large extent. Then there may be some actual mainland operation to take the uranium. All are risky. If we can get the uranium we probably just want to leave if Hormuz normalizes. The problem is that the country is likely headed to civil war and chaos for a time so Hormuz will need to be secured either way for the long term.

Justin Henin - tak, to byłoby coś. 🥎 Autorytet: Henin to szefowa. Mogłaby pomóc Idze w płynniejszym przechodzeniu do ataku i pewniejszym kończeniu akcji wolejem. 🥎 Żelazna psychika ("Allez!"): Słynęła z niesamowitego skupienia i waleczności w stykowych momentach.

Good thread brother. But it has a blind spot the size of a continent. Everyone is talking about American LNG as if the US is the only game left. They're forgetting Australia. Australia exports 80 million tonnes of LNG per year. Ten plants. 88 Mtpa nameplate capacity. Third largest exporter on earth behind the US and Qatar. Here's the problem: Australia cannot save Europe either. Over 90% of Australian LNG is locked into long-term contracts with Japan, China, South Korea, and Taiwan. These are not interruptible. These are decades-long commitments to countries that will enforce every clause. Australia's real spare capacity is 3 to 5 Mtpa. Qatar just lost 77 Mtpa. That means Australia can cover roughly 5% of the hole. Not 50%. Five. And the geography kills it. Australia to Rotterdam is 12,000 nautical miles. 25 to 35 days sailing. US Gulf to Rotterdam is 5,000 miles. 14 days. Australia to Tokyo is 3,500 miles. 7 days. Shipping costs alone make Australian LNG to Europe two to three times more expensive than American LNG. This is why Trump's leverage is even greater than the thread suggests. It's not just that the US is the last supplier standing for Europe. It's that every theoretical alternative fails on examination. Australia? Contractually locked to Asia. Geographically absurd for European delivery. Spare capacity is a rounding error against the Qatari shortfall. Norway? Maxed out. Russia? Severed. Qatar? Offline for 3 to 5 years after the Ras Laffan strikes. The $750 billion Turnberry deal isn't just about selling gas. It's about the fact that Europe has run the numbers on every alternative supplier on earth and none of them work at scale. Australia's real role in this crisis is cushioning the blow for Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan. Darwin LNG just restarted with Barossa gas in January. Woodside's Pluto Train 2 adds another 5 Mtpa by late 2026. That's 8 to 9 Mtpa of new capacity flowing into Asia, not Europe. Which creates a second-order effect nobody is discussing: if Australia can partially backfill Asia's lost Qatari supply, it reduces the competition between Europe and Asia for the same American LNG cargoes. That actually makes the US-EU deal slightly more feasible. Trump is not just selling the absence of alternatives. He is operating in a market where the geography of energy production has made America the only supplier that can physically reach Europe at scale, at speed, at a price that doesn't bankrupt the buyer. Three wars. Three severed supply lines. One seller left standing. That's not a deal. That's a monopoly priced as a favor.

BREAKING: President Trump just told 450 million Europeans: sign my deal by Thursday or I cut your gas. And if you think this is impulsive, you are not paying attention. This is the most calculated energy play in American history. Qatar’s LNG is offline. Force Majeure. Ras Laffan shut after Iranian drones hit it on Day 3. Seventeen percent of global LNG capacity gone for 3 to 5 years. Russia’s pipeline gas to Europe was severed after Ukraine. Norway is maxed. Europe’s LNG prices have surged 35 to 50 percent since Hormuz closed. One supplier remains at scale: the United States. Trump’s ambassador to the EU just told the Parliament: ratify the $750 billion trade deal without amendments by Thursday March 26, or lose “favorable access” to American LNG. Now decode the strategic geopolitical chess game which is being played in realtime. Saturday night, Trump posted a 48-hour ultimatum threatening to obliterate Iranian power plants. That was not about Iran. That was about oil prices. He needed them high enough to terrify Europe into ratifying the LNG deal, but not so high that American consumers revolted before the midterms. The ultimatum spiked Brent past $113 and WTI past $100 on Sunday. Monday morning, Trump posted about “productive conversations” and paused the power plant strikes for five days. Oil crashed over 10 percent in hours. WTI hit $89. The S&P surged $2 trillion. He spiked oil to create the fear. Then crashed it to create the relief. The fear makes Europe sign. The relief makes American voters forgive the war. Both moves serve the same president. Both happened within 36 hours. Both were executed with social media posts, not missiles. The $750 billion deal is the permanent monetisation of Europe’s energy vulnerability. LNG. Oil. Civil nuclear. Locked in until 2028. The EU had been delaying ratification for months. Three wars removed every alternative: Iran removed Qatar, Ukraine removed Russia, Norway’s geology removed Norway. What remains is American LNG. Trump is not selling gas. He is selling the absence of alternatives. The 5-day power-plant pause expires Saturday March 28. The EU Parliament votes Thursday March 26. Europe must ratify American energy dependency two days before the war might escalate again. If the pause collapses Saturday and Iran executes Ghalibaf’s promise to “irreversibly destroy” regional energy infrastructure, European LNG prices spike after the deal is already signed. Trump gets the $750 billion commitment at crisis pricing, then potentially triggers the next crisis 48 hours later. The deal locks in before the leverage expires. This is Trump Doctrine in its purest form. He does not separate trade from security from energy from markets. He operates them as one instrument. The war degrades Iran. The degradation closes Hormuz. The closure spikes energy. The spike terrifies Europe. The terror forces the deal. The deal locks in $750 billion. The pause crashes oil. The crash rallies stocks. The rally preserves midterm support. Every move funds the next move. He used the words “Department of War” in the pause announcement. Not Defence. The pre-1947 name. The name that tells Europe: the man offering you gas can resume bombing power plants on Saturday. Yesterday Russia signed a deal to build Vietnam’s first nuclear plant. Today Trump threatens to cut Europe’s gas. Two great powers selling energy security to two desperate continents during the same war. Both profit from the crisis. Both lock in decades of dependency. Both timed the offer to the moment the customer cannot refuse. The strait closed the alternatives. The ultimatum created the fear. The pause created the relief. The deal monetises both. Thursday is payday. Full deep dive analysis: open.substack.com/pub/shanakaans…

The US blew up the Nordstream pipeline for a reason, and I think they knew that Iran would hit the Ras Laffan refinery (an eye for an eye). They've now cut 9% of Europe's LNG, whose share they will eat, and taken out 20-30% of China's LNG -- which Russia can't replace on the spot. Mysteriously, a rerouted Russian LNG ship was attacked in the Mediterranean last week by Ukraine, which no one seemed to pick up.
