Nothing, NOTHING is more disturbing than the death of 27 yr old Noida techie Yuvraj Mehta. On Saturday evening, his car accidently skid to an under-construction site for a mall in Noida’s Sector 150 which had a pit full of drain water. He climbed on top of his car, switched on the torch of his phone and called his father for help. His dad reached within minutes, and so did the cops. But they all stood around the pit, hearing Yuvraj’s desperate pleas for help, through the dense fog. For nearly two hours, Yuvraj kept screaming to be saved, his car slowly sinking in. The police and the rescue teams apparently refused to jump in, because they could either not swim, or the water was too cold. A delivery boy eventually tied a rope around his waist and jumped in, by which time Yuvraj had drowned, screaming for help for two hours. In front of his inconsolable father. This happened barely a few kilometres away from the national capital. To a guy who must have paid lakhs in taxes like any law abiding citizen. The system failed him when he needed it the most. The Chief Minister of the State has thankfully suspended the CEO of the Noida authority and formed an investigation team. But how are those in authority able to sleep after such a death? How can anyone not get haunted by a young life snatched in this most brutal manner. How?

This post on traditional medicine from our honorable PM has 19K likes. As an Indian citizen, I am going to go ahead and say a few things that may not be appetizing. Apologies for the long post. 19K likes and 1000s of comments "appreciating" this absolutely useless post which means nothing shows the abyssmal science literacy of Indian populace online. I am not blaming this Govt only, and all Govts are to blame for keeping pseudoscience alive and a "career option" for young minds in India - but I will clearly saw that Govt is the one who really kickstarted this brain rot. These so-called "Summits" , "Deep Discussions" and "Bilateral Meetings" on herbal/traditional medicine, and Ayush are as important as toiler paper is, for the dining table. This whole "eye-wash" is just to keep the emotions among public alive on AYUSH (especially Ayurveda). Since the 10+ years this Govt has been in powder, there has been ZERO clinically beneficial output in Traditional Medicine that has changed medicine. It has always been these "Summits" or "MoUs - Memorandum of Understanding" with "Institutes of National Reputes" - like AIIMS , PGI Chandigarh, IITs or JIPMER and NIMHANS. These MoUs have also resulted in ZERO clinically relvant outcomes in medicine and research from India by AYUSH sector. In fact these MoUs have actually resulted in complete destruction of institutes of repute. In 2017, it was reported that scientists at AIIMS, Delhi, received government funding to research the medicinal value of Panchgaavya - a mixture including cow urine and feces. However, a faculty member, responding to viral claims, stated that AIIMS's Animal Ethics Committee would not permit such experiments. Similarly, this Govt promoted research into cow derivatives through the "Scientific Validation and Research on Panchgavya" (SVAROP) program, which has received proposals from institutions like IIT Delhi - as if this was what IITs where made to do. It is pathetic. NIMHANS, the best neurosciences institute in the country was hijacked by traditional medicine (AYUSH) and is now offering public/ patients "integrated healthcare" which includes a bunch of pseudoscience packages. JIPMER, once a shining post-graduate medical institute is now offering "integrated course" - where students can learn both modern medicine AND Ayurveda together and ruin their lives as well as their patients. Just like these wasted programs, this "Summit" will also cater to the post-truth era that has taken over Indian healthcare and research - where feelings and emotions are more important than science, research and discovery. To give you an idea of how things must be, The Kerala State Govt. recently developed the Centre of Excellence in Microbiome (kscste.kerala.gov.in/centre-of-exce…) that will study population-level microbiota and help improve our understanding of non-communicable diseases and develop precision microbial therapies. The State Govt is also developing a dedicated ₹643.88-crore organ transplant institute in Kozhikode (thehindu.com/news/national/…). These are the "Summits" and "Meetings" that matter, not this worthless Traditional Medicine circus you always put out. And wHO is doing this because India funds them and they are partly a political organization, not a pure scientific one. The brain rot people who keep appreciating you in the comments do not even realize this fact. Look at India's organ transplant status when it comes to patient level - there is not a single valuable national or core organ transplant center in the central government institute. All these AIIMS, PGIs - and not a single proper core transplant program. Dont you think the Indian public deserve better than these tradition and culture based eye-washing and white-washing of pseudoscience? Or maybe the current majority among the public deserves this circus and nonsese only and others are forced to ride shotgun. Food for thought.

Dr. @dr_sivaranjani painstakingly fought for 8 years to convince the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) to heed the harms of fake ORS drinks targeting children, flooding the market from greedy corporate companies. She won. FSSAI ordered the ban on the use of “ORS” in product names except for WHO-approved formulations - which meant that these companies fake mislabelled products could not be sold. But then, she lost. In a new twist of events, the Delhi High Court and FSSAI has now ordered that fake ORS products, especially the worst and the most stocked one - ORSL Drink by JNTL Consumer Health (the name for the Indian consumer health subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson, which is now known as Kenvue) can continue to be sold temporarily under the High Court’s interim protection. The Court and FSSAI has essentially allowed the sale of fake mislabelled products worth 180 crore Indian Rupees to protect the interest of the greedy corporations without any concern for the children's health. As a citizen of this country, you can help the good doctor and her great deed by BOYCOTTING THESE SUBSTANDARD PRODUCTS - LET THESE PRODUCTS ROT ON THE SHELVES. The public is the most powerful entity of a Nation. Let us be one and take care of ourselves and our children. Do not buy these SUGARY products with zero health benefits and do not follow WHO Standards- and spread the word please! Share maximum! ORSL by JTNL (Johnson and Johnson, Kenvue) REBALANCE VIT ORS (ReddyLabs) GLUCON - D ORS (Zydus) The Courts allowed it. FSSAI consented to it. But as the public of this country who value our childrens health, let us not. Make sure these greedy corporations suffer for their deceptions.

The E20 petrol saga is back. And here's yet another example of policy-making that seems blind to ground realities. Fuel dealers - especially in India's coastal belts - are urging oil companies to supply non-E20 petrol at least during monsoons. Why? Because E20 petrol is absorbing moisture (water-literally) and becoming watery! This is causing engine failures. An Audi Q7 owner had to pay Rs. 4 lakh on repairs after water-mixed E20 petrol was filled in his luxury SUV. Shri @HardeepSPuri please make non-e20 petrol available in high-humidity coastal areas during monsoons. And do this at least until petrol bunks upgrade their tanks to suit E20 petrol during monsoons. Shri @nitin_gadkari here's yet another example of how people are struggling with the after-effects of E20 petrol. You were asking, 'show me one person affected by E20 petrol.' Hope this helps. @kapsology @TheDeshBhakt cartoq.com/car-news/fuel-…

Help me understand this. 12 children in Rajasthan died because their cough syrups were contaminated with toxic DEG made by Kayson Pharma. 11 children died in Madhya Pradesh after consuming contaminated cough syrup made by Shreesan Pharma. This was proven through lab testing by Madhya Pradesh (MP) and Tamil Nadu government labs. But the Ministry of Health, India told people that the cough syrups were clean and then one mother who gave the cough syrup to her child in Rajasthan was jailed and a doctor who prescribed cough syrup in MP was arrested. No one from the company that manufactured these killer syrups were arrested or jailed. One manufacturer, Kayson Pharma was already blacklisted in 2023 for poor quality drugs. Why were these reptiles led back into the contract? If one of the children who died was that of some big business magnate who gave funds to political party in power, or belonged to a politician, the story would have been so much different right? What kind of governance are we stuck with? A government that does not care for their children is a liability and a burden to citizens, not an ally and shield. India is turning to be the circus that the jokers who elected the jokers want it to be. For the underprivileged, every new day feels like a bonus in this country,
Himani Chandna@ChandnaHimani

Lab report by Madhya Pradesh govt also confirmed presence of toxic DEG in Coldrif syrup -- contamination of over 46%. Permissible limit is just 0.1%. Tamil Nadu lab reported same findings on Oct 2. Such high levels of DEG would not spare the vulnerable young kids. Its poison.

This 4 year old daughter of a street vendor died of rabies in Bengaluru. Badly bitten on the face on Apr 27, family endured months of struggle, panic, and desperation, only to see their beloved child meet a tragic end. 10,000 bites daily in India, mostly kids, almost all from poor or lower middle-class. Never the children of the privileged, never the children celebrities like Janhvi Kapoor, Varun Dhawan, John Abraham, Raveena Tandon, Bhumi Pednekar, Zoya Akhtar, or Shefali Shah may have today or tomorrow. Since their families will never face it, it’s not their problem. That’s why they never speak compassion when poor kids die of rabies. But the moment the SC ordered action on stray dogs, they suddenly discovered “compassion”, because right now, that’s the in thing and looks good on CV.

Govt ministers dismissed those raising concerns about E20 petrol as “motivated trolls” and are running social media campaigns to defend their actions by comparing India with Brazil. Here’s the reality check, Mr @HardeepSPuri: 1. In Brazil, blending began in 1975, but E0 petrol remained available until 1993 (and still in special cases), giving non-compliant car owners an alternative for nearly two decades. India jumped from E10 to E20 in just 3 years without offering E0/E5/E10 options, despite 80–90% of current petrol vehicles not being E20-compatible. 2. Brazil worked with automakers well before setting mandates, so by the time E22 became law, almost all new cars were ethanol-compatible. In India, BIS regulations are announced with short compliance timelines forcing rushed adaptations and causing performance complaints. Govt rolled out E20 despite knowing cars made before 2023 are not compliant. 3. Brazil kept its blend steady (E20–E25) for years, allowing OEMs to design engines with certainty. India’s rapid jump from E10 to E20 leaves little time for testing, and now we plan to roll out E27 in the next few years. 4. Brazil reduced fuel prices after ethanol blending. India hasn’t, despite reduced mileage and potential parts damage in non-compliant vehicles. 5. Brazil kept the public well informed about ethanol’s role, benefits, and limitations, framing it as national energy independence. In India, decisions are pushed through with little to no public communication or feedback. 6. Brazil started with petrol blending only, perfecting stability, infrastructure, and compatibility before tackling diesel or flex-fuel. India is simultaneously pushing E20 petrol, flex-fuel prototypes, biodiesel, CNG, EVs, and diesel-ethanol. So don’t hide behind Brazil. We’re not questioning your intent, but your methods. Don’t use consumers’ hard-earned assets as test subjects. : A motivated troll.

Look at what Toyota has responded on Ethanol blending in one of the public threads: 1. Clearly advising against using E20 2. Using this fuel will void warranty So, while the government is forcing ethanol on us, automobile companies won’t cover damage. Wow!

I appreciate that at least there was a response after my letter and the public outrage that’s a good start. However, the main questions still remain unanswered. 1. If you're blending 20% ethanol with petrol, why haven’t the fuel prices gone down? Ethanol is cheaper shouldn't that benefit the public? 2. You haven’t addressed the conflict of interest. Does Mr. Gadkari or his family have any ownership or business links with ethanol-producing companies? 3. Why aren't people being given a choice? Why is there no option to buy pure petrol or even E10? 4. You claim ₹1.04 lakh crore has been saved due to ethanol blending. Then who exactly gained from it? Because the Indian consumers haven’t received even a single penny’s benefit. These are not political questions, they are questions of transparency and public interest. I’m asking again, respectfully, but firmly. The people deserve answers. Garvit Sethi A concerned citizen
Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas #MoPNG@PetroleumMin

📑Some articles/ reports in the media have raised concerns about the potential negative impact of 20% ethanol blending (E20) in petrol, particularly with regard to older vehicles and customer experience. These concerns, however, are largely unfounded and not supported by scientific evidence or expert analysis. ▶️International studies on the effect of using Ethanol-Petrol Blends on Mechanical, Energy and Environmental Performance of Vehicles through testing of carbureted and fuel-injected vehicles every 10,000 km during their first 100,000 km showed statistically no significant differences in power and torque generated and fuel consumption. Material compatibility and drivability tests by Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI), Indian Institute of Petroleum (IIP) and Indian Oil Corporation (R&D) have confirmed that legacy vehicles also showed no significant variations, performance issues or abnormal wear-and-tear when operated with E20. Moreover, E20 fuel passed hot and cold startability tests without any engine damage. ▶️Multiple concerns have been addressed as below: 🔹Fuel efficiency:- Ethanol, being lower in energy density than petrol, results in a marginal decrease in mileage, estimated at 1–2% for four-wheelers designed for #E10 and calibrated for #E20, and around 3–6% in others. This marginal drop in efficiency can be further minimized through improved engine tuning and use of E20-compatible materials, which leading automobile manufacturers have already adopted. In fact, the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) has confirmed that E20-compliant vehicles with upgraded components began rolling out from April 2023. Thus, the allegation that E20 leads to drastic drop in fuel efficiency is factually incorrect. 🔹Material corrosion:- Safety standards for E20, including corrosion inhibitors and compatible fuel system materials, are well established through BIS specifications and Automotive Industry Standards. Replacement of some rubber parts/ gaskets could be advised in certain older vehicles after prolonged use of say 20,000 to 30,000 kms. This replacement is inexpensive and easily done during regular servicing of the vehicle 🔹Environmental concerns:- Ethanol replaces petrol, a fossil fuel and reduces CO2 emissions. India’s ethanol blending programme is through feedstock diversification. Ethanol is increasingly being produced from not only sugarcane but also from surplus rice, maize, damaged foodgrains, and agricultural residues, especially under the push for second-generation (2G) biofuels. This makes ethanol blending not only technically viable, but environmentally sustainable as well. A study on life cycle emissions of ethanol done by Niti Aayog has assessed that GHG emissions in case of sugarcane and maize based ethanol use is less by 65% and 50%, respectively, than that of petrol. 🔹Benefits: 🔸Ride quality and vehicle performance: Ethanol has a higher octane number than Petrol (~108.5 vs. 84.4) which implies that ethanol-petrol blends have a higher octane number than traditional petrol. Therefore, the use of ethanol becomes a partial alternative for providing high-octane fuels (~95), required for modern high compression ratio engines providing a better ride quality. Vehicles tuned for E20 (having increased RON) deliver even higher performance. Ethanol is also characterized by having a higher heat of vaporization than petrol. This aspect makes the temperature of the intake manifold lower, which increases air-fuel mixture density, therefore increasing the engine’s volumetric efficiency. 🔸E20 blending significantly strengthens India’s energy security by reducing dependence on crude oil imports. In fact, since 2014-15 India has already saved more than Rs. 1.40 lakh crore in foreign exchange through petrol substitution. Ethanol blending supports the rural economy, with expeditious payment of over Rs. 1.20 lakh crore to farmers, thereby creating income and employment opportunities in the agricultural and biofuel sectors. #E20 blending has helped India reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 700 lakh tonnes, contributing to climate change goals. ▶️The claim that this transition is abrupt or poorly communicated does not align with the detailed rollout plans outlined in the Government of India’s Roadmap for Ethanol Blending in India 2020–25, available on the websites of #MoPNG and @NitiAayog since 2021. The implementation of E20 in India has followed a phased and widely consulted approach, involving coordination between ministries, vehicle manufacturers, fuel retailers, standards agencies etc. ▶️Thus, the narrative that #EthanolBlending in Petrol is harming vehicles or causing undue hardship to consumers is not based on real facts and lacks technical foundation. Ethanol blending is a forward-looking, scientifically supported, and environmentally responsible measure that brings multi-dimensional benefits to the nation. @PMOIndia @HardeepSPuri @IndianOilcl @BPCLimited @HPCL @DDNewslive @PIB_India
