There is a simple solution to every complicated problem. Don’t depend on it. Instead, build an arsenal of simple solutions.

There is a simple solution to every complicated problem. A simple explanation to a complex issue. A simple path to a complicated destination.
But by tomorrow, the problem still exists.

Some of my worst decisions in life and business came after asking smart, well-meaning mentors for advice.
Advice is often like being given the perfect recipe; but your pantry’s full of different ingredients.
Different timing. Different team. Different tools.
And once someone gives advice, they get invested in you following it. If you don’t, they think you didn’t listen. If you do, and it backfires; well, that’s on you.
Stories, on the other hand, don’t come with strings. They let you hear what someone actually did, and figure out what fits your situation.
Ask for stories.

Really interesting "first follower" effect here. First guy is definitely a hero but the second guy is the one that made it possible for the group effect to take off.

@elonmusk @engineering Can you please stop penalizing links so much? They're some of the most informative and entertaining content here.
One of the most valuable things you can do for people is to tell them about something interesting they didn't know about. Links are often the best way to do that.

There are false dichotomies everywhere. Once we see them, we can’t unsee them.

"The most important things that matter at the pre-seed stage — character, execution, substance, emotional intelligence, creativity, cunning—none of them can be credibly communicated in a single meeting or on a transcript."
These things matter even beyond the pre-seed stage.

This is not for everyone. This is for people who live well by opening themselves up to wonder and curiosity.

It's easier to say “I don't have time, because I'm too busy” than the truer alternative: “this isn't a priority for me now”, or “I don't care enough to attend to this.”
There's always time.

What do NASA’s Mars Climate Orbiter spacecraft, modular arithmetic, and some medical errors have in common?
For each, 2+2 ≠ 4.

“I don’t agree with you, and that’s final” isn’t the best way to show divergence. Instead, make it clear and let us see where things are yet to add up.

@anuatluru Noticing when the game is at play is an exercise in seeing others, and seeing yourself. Know what you have decided to sacrifice when you choose to accept (or extend) the invitation to play. Some games only have one winner, if any. There is a high chance it isn't you.
