In tennis, smashing rackets is basically tolerated emotional release, but in other sports, that same loss of control is punished immediately. In football, if a player angrily kicks the ball away after a whistle, it’s a yellow card (no debate about that). If they damage equipment or show dissent, they’re penalized. In basketball, technical fouls are given for emotional outbursts like throwing the ball or arguing excessively. So why should tennis be softer? Being human isn’t an excuse , it’s exactly why rules exist. Discipline is part of professionalism. If a footballer can control himself in a high-pressure match with millions watching, a tennis player should be able to do the same. Do you really think If smashing your racket had a real consequence—like automatic loss, would players risk breaking that law everytime like this ? It would force emotional control and actually raise the standard of the sport. My opinion though. 🤷🏽♂️
