@JoelSymonds999 ...blast bandages have the big plastic sheet. Modular bandages have a small piece of plastic to be used as an improvised chest seal. 😜

👏 demo of why you want wet and smooth (vs initially wet and absorbent) against exposed bowel. Modular bandages have big plastic sheets inside them for exactly this. I’ve seen sheets (non-circumferential) of cling film used too - anyone got a thought on that?

Saturday surgical advice: if you have a traumatic/postop bowel evisceration and you don’t have immediate surgery, never use a gauze to cover the bowels ⤵️This could end in an abdominal catastrophe (fistula) 🧨! The best option is a plastic IV fluids bag 💼 + saline solution!

After careful consideration, the HCPC Council has agreed to proposals to increase the annual registration fee from £98.12 to £117.74. The increase will not be introduced until after a legislative approval process has been completed. Read our statement➡️hcpc-uk.org/news-and-event…

@JoelSymonds999 @ResusCouncilUK It's about defying the apathy caused by the bystander effect. In that respect absolutely...if you don't stop and help you denying them a chance.

@DanCostigliola @ResusCouncilUK I agree, in that encouraging the public to get going is a good thing. I’m not on board with promoting the idea that “everyone has a chance”, when for many people this suggests not doing CPR is denying them a chance of survival.

I’m a huge advocate for public cpr, awareness, OHCA recognition, defib access etc. But “everyone deserves a chance” incorrectly implies that everyone should receive CPR and the “chance” to survive. Turns out, it’s the “chance” to learn cpr. Not helpful @ResusCouncilUK.
Resuscitation Council UK@ResusCouncilUK

The UK survival rate from out-of-hospital-cardiac arrest remains stubbornly low; less than 1 in 10. We ALL have a key role to play in improving survival rates and learning how to do #CPR because everyone deserves a chance. Learn how to #RestartAHeart: resus.org.uk/get-involved/r…

Optimal chest compression pause for mechanical CPR in 30:2 mode to provide 2 insufflations appears to be 5 sec A 5-sec pause will allow to give 2 insufflations with very high success rate and can also be used for rhythm checks/intubation 🔗 resuscitationjournal.com/article/S0300-… #ResusTwitter
