People really believe Iran bet its existence on being able to control the strait of Hormuz as its final boss defense but would be unable to manage a few US navy ships' just charging through to escort ships.

@ripplebrain They love that 80s escort op. Iran was not directly at war with the US and decided not to actively shoot at US ships then for obvious pragmatic reasons, none of which would apply now, in fact all pragmatism tells them to do their best to sink any US ships that enter.

What's does "hold firm" mean here? The author identifies that opening the strait is strategically crucial, thoroughly outlines the scope of the dangers (mines, Shaheds, naval drones, cruise missiles, speedboats), and simply assumes that these threats can somehow be eliminated to such a degree that USN DDGs will be able to escort tankers through what's currently an Iranian shooting gallery. He makes zero attempt to account for the Iranians attacking production sites, which makes opening the strait pointless. He has no explanation for how one-way, long-range attack drone launches can be fully suppressed across a country the size of western Europe, a feat that has yet to be accomplished anywhere and is most likely impossible.
