Big life news on the Chang-Bacon front! On October 16th, we welcomed our daughter Everly 貝汝 (Beiru) and son Haven 貝懷 (Beihuai) into the world. These twins gave us quite a surprise and arrived much earlier than expected (we hadn’t really even announced our pregnancy yet....)

All, After many hours of prayer, deliberation, and conversations with mentors, I recently accepted a position at Sul Ross State University as the Chair of the Education Department. Those who know me personally understand how difficult the last two years have been for the immediate and extended Carpenter family. Accepting this new position will provide new leadership opportunities and allow me to complete this next chapter of my career at a public-serving institution. As most of you know, I have a burning passion for equity in education and am incredibly called to serve under-resourced/overlooked communities. I am determined to use my energy and time to address the ways in which our PK-20 systems continue to privilege particular groups of persons at the cost of others. As the Educational Department Chair at Sul Ross University, I will be given a chance to build coalitions of school districts and communities across West Texas...from El Paso to Midland, from Del Rio to Eagle Pass, and all areas in between. As with any position, I seek to always leave the organization in better shape than when I arrived. I am confident that our #BaylorLeads Executive Ed.D family has done so. I thoroughly enjoyed the personal and professional relationships built during my time at Baylor and expect these relationships to carry on well into the future. To my #BaylorLeads scholars and faculty...I miss you already! I appreciate the continued support of my professional learning network and cannot wait to share the exciting things happening at Sul Ross State University. I genuinely believe I have found my home. I look forward to traveling throughout West Texas, meeting with the many hardworking educators seeking to provide each and every student with excellent educational opportunities.
