#EchoPearl from the week: a mixed echogenic retrocardiac mass impinging on the LA in a patient with a severe Mallory–Weiss tear. CT confirmed a hiatal hernia posterior to the LA. Learning point: Hiatal hernias classically lie posterior to the LA and demonstrate mixed echolucent/echogenic appearance on TTE. Alternative diagnostic trick: Oral carbonated beverage → moving bubbles within the stomach/herniated segment confirm the diagnosis. #🍺 (PMID: 17628406: pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/17628406/)
