If capitalism truly rewarded skill or intelligence, the richest people would be neurosurgeons, engineers, and scientists. If it rewarded talent, it would be artists, writers, and creators. If it rewarded hard work, it would be cleaners, laborers, and service workers. But it’s none of them.

Did you know Korea sells “one-a-day” banana packs? Instead of every banana ripening at once, each one is at a different stage. One is ready today. The next one is ready tomorrow. Poor Americans who attend church regularly are happier than rich Americans who never go. Behavioral scientist William von Hippel thought he'd made a coding error. He hadn't. "Regularly attending services has a bigger impact on your happiness than wealth," he writes. "Money buys a fair bit of happiness but connection gives you more bang for the buck." What's happening? Rich people already have most of what money buys. What they lack is what churches provide for free: weekly, repeated contact with people who know your name. Von Hippel is direct about the cost: "I suspect that wealthy, educated urbanites are paying a steeper price for their lifestyle than they realize. Many of us have paid too great a price in connection for our increased autonomy."

Her message is 100% correct. We need to call it what it is, its a double standard.

When I worked in public schools they constantly talked about “closing the achievement gap.” They forgot to mention that Black homeschool students score 23-42% above Black public school students across all standardized tests. In fact, the gap between Black public school students and Black home school students is the greatest achievement gap in America education. I wonder why they never talk about it.
