If you just followed me, welcome. If you've been here a while, here's what you signed up for. I'm Vladimir Baranov. I was born in the USSR and moved to Canada in 1995. I've been writing code since I was 6 years old. I graduated from Canada's gifted program, studied pure math at the University of Waterloo, then did something no one saw coming... I became a hip hop artist. Worked with Grammy-winning producers. Performed at halftime at Canada's largest venue for the 100th anniversary of the Grey Cup. At 25 I turned my longest-running passion into my profession. Spent 12 years as a software developer building for companies like Coca-Cola and Morgan Stanley. In 2024 I started a program teaching elementary school kids to build robots. I founded an app called ChatSetter and sold it. Now I'm doing the thing I've wanted to do since I was 6 years old watching Terminator. "It's a neural net processor, a learning computer." That line rewired my brain before I knew what a neural net was. Before I even spoke English. I've been chasing it ever since. Today I research AI, specifically continual learning. My experiments (the Sleeping LLM, Emergent Behaviour) are about pushing toward something most people still think is science fiction: a system that learns, adapts, and genuinely helps you. Not a chatbot. Something closer to what the T-800 became in T2, a being that understands. I'm publishing that research now. You should follow along if you feel what I feel, that we are living in one of the most extraordinary moments in human history, and you want to watch it unfold with clear eyes. I'm optimistic. I'm excited. I'm also cautious, sometimes bordering on fear, but I look past it, because the work matters more. Feet on the ground. Head in the clouds. If this resonates, repost it. I built an AI that remembers what we talked about, even after its context is wiped clean. Every time it 'sleeps,' it curates the conversation into facts, then fine-tunes itself with LoRA. When it wakes up: zero context, full memory. Here's how it works (code in thread):

@DanRyanNeff I went with a friend and we stayed in the Mission District with a lawyer & a tech bro who had other ppl staying bc they were either coming or going to a wedding in wine country so they were doing a few days sightseeing before going on there way. We were kind of doing the same.
