Fort Smith, Arkansas had a great submission and would be an amazing use case to help future development in the state. With a substantial lithium mining project, the expansion of the I-49 corridor, there is a lot of room for growth in this region and the river valley could expand to support future data center construction

Tunnel Vision Challenge update! 1. University Hills Loop: Great initial meetings with regulators. Many more to come. Hoping to submit a permit application in April. Goal is to strengthen access to transit/jobs in South Dallas, and possibly then extend/connect to North Dallas. 2. NOLA Loop: Great initial meetings with elected officials and the Convention Center. Many more meetings to come. Goal is to strengthen connectivity by the Convention Center and Business District, and reduce event related congestion. 3. Ravens Loop: After initial meetings, this project unfortunately will not be moving forward as part of the competition. What does everyone think? Should TBC select another project to fill the now-open third slot?

Tunnel Vision Challenge results! We've been overwhelmed with the amazing submissions…so we are announcing three winners! The Thrilling Three are: - NOLA Loop (New Orleans, LA) - Ravens Loop (Baltimore, MD) - University Hills Loop (Dallas, TX) What happens next? TBC and the project stakeholders enter into a rigorous diligence process which includes: - Meetings with elected officials, regulators, community leaders, and business leaders - Geotechnical borings - Utility and subsurface infra investigation Once the diligence (100% funded by TBC) is complete, if all 3 projects are feasible, will fund/build all 3 - this would be awesome. If only 1 is feasible, will fund/build 1. IN ADDITION, there were multiple other projects that TBC thought were so compelling that we are going to continue to work with the entrants and try to get them built. This includes the following two: - Hendersonville Utility Tunnel (Hendersonville, TN) - Morgan's Wonderland Tunnel (San Antonio, TX) Thanks again to all of the participants - your enthusiasm and positivity has been inspiring for the TBC team.

BREAKING! Reports coming in from US intelligence that Iran has started mining the Strait of Hormuz. IF TRUE. This is a huge escalation. Sea mines do not discriminate in the way a directed drone strike would. Until the USA goes in an removes the mines the Strait will be closed. Saudi is ramping up export via its pipelines which could be a massive offset factor. Not solve the problem level, but ease a lot of pressure. The global oil crisis will not go away so easily. Chaos is here.

🚨JAPAN DENIES DECISION TO RELEASE OIL RESERVES 🇯🇵 Japan says NO final decision has been made on releasing oil from its strategic reserves, despite reports suggesting preparations were underway. Officials say Tokyo is closely monitoring the Middle East conflict before making any move. The timing is critical. Oil markets are already on edge. Brent crude briefly surged near $120 per barrel. That’s one of the largest price spikes in decades. The key issue is the Strait of Hormuz. ~20% of the world’s oil supply flows through this single chokepoint. And Japan is one of the most exposed economies, with +90% of Japan’s crude imports passing through Hormuz. That’s why strategic reserves matter. Japan holds the world’s 3rd LARGEST petroleum reserves after the U.S. and China. These emergency stockpiles cover roughly 254 days of domestic consumption. Releasing those barrels could help stabilize global supply and calm oil prices. But there’s a BIGGER signal here. Strategic reserves are usually tapped ONLY during major global crises. Think the First Gulf War in 1990. Or the 2011 Fukushima disaster. So even discussing a release tells you something: Governments are preparing for a potential GLOBAL energy shock. For now, Tokyo says it’s watching the situation. But if the Strait of Hormuz disruption worsens… Strategic oil reserves could become the world’s emergency valve.
