I agree with your last point, it isn't optimal for adaptation of physical qualities. But with this you highlight the dance practitioners face. Tactical/technical training drives the bus (as it should), and the physical has to be weaved in. Calls on creativity, flexibility and individualized frameworks to achieve those goals.

Interesting thread and paper, really useful to understand what external load different drills elicit. However, I do wonder if match intensity is an appropriate comparator for training. Assumes matches provide optimal stimulus for adaptation & I’m not sure that is the case?
