The past few weeks I’ve been assessing the impact of Brexit; it’s clear to say that a deal is better than no deal. I hope that @OliverHealdUK sticks true to the beliefs of his constituents and keeps up the good fight! His recent comments in the #HouseofCommons are assuring 👍🏼 🇪🇺

@__seestern This is very true, but if people are to burn wood, then the dry hard woods are far less polluting.

@Dan_C_Williams But best solution is: don't burn any wood or coal. We have access to cleaner ways to heat our homes.

As we start to approach winter and people start to light their wood burning stoves, stop and think about the impact the smoke has on air quality. If burning wood, make sure it is well seasoned hard wood and not damp soft wood!

Diesel really is a clean fuel when treated correctly - it contributes significantly to reducing CO2 emissions as well...

@CleanairHamble EVs are still out of the realms of most people as you’ve eluded to. Hybrids are more affordable but from a CO2 perspective diesel still offers less green house gas emission. They are as clean as petrols if brand new. Also we need to consider where the electiciry comes from...

@Dan_C_Williams With 300 mile electric vehicles, surely there is no place for fossil fuel powered vehicles in the near future. Saying that I just bought a new petrol as I couldn't afford a Nissan Leaf

There are so many misconceptions about diesel. Yes older diesels have a bad reputation, but newer diesels are clean in real world driving and have their place in society. Check the post below, it makes for an interesting read!

@NoelLock2 This may be true, but the same issues can be found with gasoline. But when these gasoline systems age and fail particulate levels will be higher with no closed wall filter as you have on diesels. It’s about vehicle maintainance and that’s where us, the user have a responsibility

New diesels become old diesels. The vehicle lasts longer than its emissions controls and inevitably becomes a pollution problem that we all have to breathe. twitter.com/dan_c_williams…

@AirFairy04 @SeeTheAirBot @AECC_eu There are catalytic and electrostatic systems available to help combat the HC, CO and PM pollution from wood burning stoves. Many already come with catalysts, but PM is still s big problem. Governments should incentivise retrofit solutions to combat these pollutants.
