It’s time to say a very big thank you to all of the amazing schools, teachers and young people who, once again, have made an incredible contribution to trees and nature in their school grounds this academic year. Thanks to Tree Council funders @mandgplc, @MayorofLondon, WFH Foundation, @AYUKViews, and Tree Partners, more than 188,000 school children and their teachers at 538 schools had the opportunity to plant, care for and connect with trees and hedgerows in their schools over the last twelve months. A mighty 40,145 trees and hedge whips were planted in school fields and playgrounds across the length and breadth of the UK. 7.5km of new hedgerow and more than 3 football pitches of potential new tree canopy cover have been established by young environmentalists in educational establishments of all levels – from nursery schools, to sixth forms.
