100 years ago today, 1.7 million British workers walked out. Not for themselves. In solidarity with miners facing wage cuts and longer hours. For nine days, Britain stopped. No trains ran. No newspapers printed except the workers' own bulletins. The docks fell silent. The government deployed troops and middle-class strikebreakers, but they couldn't keep the system running. Because the system runs on working-class labour, and for nine days, that labour said no. The TUC capitulated on day nine. Called it off without winning a single demand, abandoned the miners to seven more months of starvation before defeat. That betrayal cost us decades. But those nine days proved something the ruling class has never forgotten: when we organise collectively, we can shut down the entire capitalist economy. They criminalised solidarity strikes after 1926. Made it illegal to do what had just shown our power so clearly. That tells you who was actually threatened. A century on, we face the same fight. Employers are using inflation as cover for real wage cuts. Attacking unions. Demanding we accept austerity as inevitable. And the same question: do we fight collectively or get picked off one sector at a time? The 1926 strike failed because its leadership feared working-class power more than they wanted victory. But the rank and file built strike committees, organised distribution, kept communities fed, and ran their own media. They showed what we're capable of when we refuse capital's logic. #GeneralStrike #LabourHistory #WorkingClass #TradeUnions #Solidarity #ClassStruggle

Berlin falls. The workers' state crushes the fascist beast. Twenty-seven million Soviet dead: workers, peasants, partisans – paid the price for this victory. The liberal myth says we all beat Hitler together. That is whitewashing. While Britain and America delayed the second front and let the Soviets bleed, while Churchill plotted Operation Unthinkable to rearm the Wehrmacht against our liberators, it was the Red Army – organised, armed workers – who smashed fascism into the dirt. They want you to forget. They want you grateful to the same ruling class that funded Hitler, that let Spain burn, that built an empire on fascism's blueprint. They want you to think capitalism saved you. It didn't. Communists did. 81 years on, NATO encircles. Fascism crawls back across Europe, funded by the same capitalist forces it always served. They're coming for migrants, for Roma, for Muslims, for anyone who doesn't fit their pure, profitable order. We beat them before. We'll beat them again. But only if we organise. Join the Communist Party. Because liberals will always make peace with fascists. We won't.

On International Workers’ Day, the Communist Party calls on the labour and trade union movement to build massive and sustained mobilisations for peace and socialism. May Day is celebrated by workers across the world from Cuba to New Caledonia. This year millions will march in support of Cuba’s socialist revolution amidst the crisis created by the illegal US blockade and Trump’s executive order to strangle energy supplies to the socialist island that has already suffered sixty years of economic, commercial, and financial siege warfare. Undaunted by US imperialism’s threats, the Workers’ Central Union of Cuba (CTC) and its national unions are calling May Day celebrations across the island under the slogan: "The homeland must be defended" (‘La Patria se defiende’) . Since International Workers' Day was first celebrated on 1 May 1890, socialists have always linked demands of the workers’ movement for shorter working hours, better rights and social justice with calls for peace and against militarism and war. In 1913, Polish revolutionary Rosa Luxemburg wrote, “The brilliant basic idea of May Day is the autonomous, immediate stepping forward of the proletarian masses, [in] a direct, international mass manifestation: the strike as a demonstration and means of struggle for the eight-hour day, world peace, and socialism.” 4 May 2026 also marks the centenary of the British general strike, which began at one minute past midnight on Tuesday 4 May 1926 and ended in betrayal and despair with the TUC’s ignominious surrender nine days later. The betrayal of the British general strike on 13 May 1926 after nine days of exemplary militancy and class solidarity, saw organised labour falter and fall back in disarray from which it did not recover for almost half a century. 1926 was also an inflection point in the drive to militarism and war. Today, workers face many parallels. Just as in the 1920s, bosses demanded pay cuts, so in 2026, politicians, arms dealers and military top brass demand cuts to public spending to fund military expenditure. For trade unionists, the warning could not be clearer. The demand for ever-increasing proportions of GDP to be spent on military spending is a direct and deliberate attack on the living standards of workers and their families. The new Cold War warriors in Britain, France and Germany, following the example of Donald Trump in the US see the new arms race as an opportunity to achieve the swingeing cuts in the welfare state that they have dreamed of for so long. The Communist Party calls on trade unionists to support the International Meeting Against War at Westminster Central Hall on Saturday, 20 June 2026. The Communist Party calls on workers on May Day to march for peace and socialism. Long live May Day! Build the United Front against imperialism and war! Communist Party of Britain 1 May 2026

For 50 years, an unbroken chain of neoliberal policies, from Thatcherism to Blairism, has marginalised & destroyed our communities. We say - no more. Our communities deserve better. Our towns deserve better. And together, we are the force that will build a future for all.

Unity is Our Strength! “It’s time that people actually stood up and showed a little bit of unity and solidarity.” — Dan Ross, Northwest District Secretary of the Communist Party of Britain. Today, we stood in solidarity with Britain’s most marginalised communities to show our collective strength. For 50 years, the unbroken chain of neoliberal policies, from Thatcherism to Blairism, has marginalised and destroyed our towns and communities. We say - no more. Why We Mobilise: • Solidarity: Standing with those most affected by systemic inequality. • Collective Power: Showing that the working class can mobilise in massive numbers to demand change. • Resistance: Pushing back against decades of economic policies that prioritise profit over people. Our communities deserve better. Our towns deserve better. And together, we are the force that will build a future for the many, not the few. Join the Movement! Don’t just watch history happen, help write it. Join a community dedicated to real systemic change and working-class empowerment. This May, voters in England, Scotland and Wales have a clear choice: more of the same failed politics or a party that stands for working people and real change. Our communities are at breaking point. Councils bankrupted by austerity, public services stripped for profit, prices rising faster than wages, housing treated as a commodity, and public transport failing the millions of us who rely on it. These are not accidents or bad decisions. They are the direct results of a system built to put profit before people. The Communist Party rejects despair and division. We refuse the lies of the far right, who scapegoat migrants while protecting the system that exploits us all. Britain’s problems are caused by capitalism, and they can only be solved by workers organised and fighting together for change, not by career politicians who claim to speak for us while furthering their own interests. For more than a century, Britain’s Communists have stood with tenants, workers and communities: fighting fascism, defending public services, building trade unions, and campaigning for peace, public ownership and socialism. We the only party standing in these elections that cannot be bought or silenced. Our record speaks for itself. These elections matter, but they are part of a wider struggle. Vote Communist. Get organised. Join the fight for a future built on human need, solidarity and collective power. #VoteCommunist #ChangeEverything Read our English, Scottish and Welsh Manifestos and find out more here 🔗 link in bio - elections.communistparty.org.uk #CommunistParty #Communism #UKPolitics

April 22. The birth of Lenin. Lenin remains important because he demolished the idea that the working class is just a resource to be managed. He looked at the factories, the fields, and the slums and saw the only force capable of rebuilding the world. He didn't just write books about freedom. He built the tools to seize it. He matters more than ever today because the "savage prejudice" he fought is still the engine of our society. We are told that politics is for the experts, that the economy is too complex for the people who actually run it, and that we should be grateful for the crumbs from the table. Lenin’s life was a rejection of that gratitude. He proved that the state is not a god or a natural law. It is a machine. And if a machine is crushing you, you don't plead with it. You break it. You learn how it works so you can build something that serves the many instead of the few. Organise. The work continues. #Lenin
