@sadreturns Everything the Portlandia feminist bookstore owners said that was supposed to be so absurd it was obviously a joke fifteen years ago are things the Left seriously believe today.

Portlandia is interesting because it was clearly produced by libs but it’s one of the few examples of them being able to earnestly, accurately satirize themselves in an actually funny way without still trying to force through a message

@mtaibbi They forced the fraudulent mail- in system on us without legislation or a vote and for some reason now it’s permanent and we can’t undo it without 60 votes in the senate.

Yes and the proliferation of “mostly mail-in” systems enabled by outsourced private ballot harvesters is a major, revolutionary change in how America does elections - and there’s no reason for it post-Covid. Why can’t people go to vote? It’s too hard? Wtf?
Democritus Junior@tpkern

@mtaibbi Dude isn't this just mostly due to mail in ballots that take time? This is nothing new in California but in the age of social media, everything is some conspiracy theory

@mtaibbi Yes the Democrats unilaterally instituted radical change to elections without a vote or legislation and now apparently we’re not allowed to undo it.

People acting like we didn’t institute radical changes to elections in 2020-2022 - it’s infuriating.

@SecMullinDHS Only six rioters arrested? You need to be going into Newark with an overwhelming show of force immediately.

On the evening of May 27th, approximately 100 anti-ICE rioters gathered around the Delaney Hall ICE facility. Rioters assaulted and threw objects at law enforcement. Throughout the night, six rioters were arrested for assaulting law enforcement officers.   Local police refused to help our officers.   Assaulting and obstructing ICE law enforcement is a crime and felony. Anyone who assaults law enforcement will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Law and order will prevail.

Dairy Queen in my city used to be a 20-something manager and a bunch of teenagers my entire life. Now it’s a grown ass adult family of Indians. It’s dirty, gross, slow, and you can barely understand them. Why? Why are they here? Why? I want to know why.

I feel like this sort of framing always makes libertarians look bad because it’s so obvious they’re refusing to engage with what’s at issue. Labor arbitrage favors employers. An expanded labor pool in general leads to lower wages. You’re not ‘insecure’ or a ‘loser’ for not wanting an expanded labor pool that reduces your earnings. In fact, there’s really nothing more politically legitimate than advocating for your economic interests. Libertarians need to make the case that expanding the labor pool is good for society as a whole, at scale, and it’s something that they’re having an increasingly hard time doing for a number of reasons. However, trying to argue people are somehow deficient for pursuing legitimate interests is completely unpersuasive and isn’t going to win anyone over.

Biden winning GA by *0.2%* in 2020 REALLY did a number on people’s brains. I’ve been hearing “it’s gonna become the next VA any day now bro” for the past 5 years and it’s still generally an R-leaning state. Nobody talked the same way about MI after Trump won it by 0.2% in 2016.
Hampton Prescott@HamptonPrezcott

The “Georgia is next Virginia, bro” discourse is beyond asinine, but the primary reason why the State is now competitive is that the GOP collectively decided to stop trying to compete in Metro Atlanta, which is insane given how incompetent the local governance has gotten there.

Ohio’s senate is blood red, such that Acton probably wouldn’t be able to get much of anything done. Vivek is much, much more dangerous as a Trojan Horse. Governors don’t control H-1Bs; they control whether every single city/state contract, grant, and subsidy are given to indians.
